2013 NFL Playoffs/Super Bowl

Toot, toot and toot.

Not to toot my own horn since I've been away lately, but I was one of the first to note R.G. Griffin's injury may be more serious than diagnosed/reported weeks ago. Plus, I told my family that I would not be surprised to see RGIII aggravate his injuriy largely based on his past performances and the fact the Seahawks were not going to treat him with kid gloves. MY only surprise was why the Redskins did not replace him at halftime and certainly no-later-than the start of the 4th quarter. Coaching lost this game and may have spoiled RG3.

This is only the second time the Patriots will play a Houston based team in the playoffs. On New Year's Eve 1978, I was at the Oilers-Pats divisional round game, and the Oilers behind Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini, Ken Burroughs, Mike Barber, et al crushed the Pats, 31-14. That game was the first and only playoff game played in Foxboro until the Steelers-Patriots divisional playoff in January 1997 (aka "Fog Bowl II").

I remember as a 12 year old at the Oilers-Pats playoff game watching Bum Phillips on the Houston sideline, and wanting to rip that cowboy hat off his head. ;)

You are correct. I believe that was the year the Steelers beat the Oilers in the AFCCG and the Three Rivers Stadium field was a sheet of ice. IMO, that Steelers team is still the best that I've ever seen since I started watching the NFL in 1975.

Well that's just great...the Patriots are using all digitals, both fingers and toes, to keep track of their playoff matches while the Lions can track all of their playoff victories over the past 50-years on one finger. Unfortunately, the Detroit Lions owner think Lions fans are signalling we're #1.
