2013 MLB Postseason

Theres strike 3 that he doesn't get and gets pulled form the game ...

Great ... take you best pitcher out for someone that might be good, probably not.

Who's coming in ?

Well at least it's Smyly and not Al Al.

Leyland I hope you know what your doing...
You bring in Smyly , he gets a ground ball ... which is what you brought him in for and what do you do, you take him out.

Good grief ...

Tigers season just ended.
And Torii Hunter still doesn't make it to a WS.

Congrats to the Red Sox for advancing to the WS. Since I'm an NL fan, I'll be pulling for the Cards.

Wasn't that a Great idea to take Scherzer out with 110 pitches.

Now if Scherzer comes out in the press conference and says he told Leyeland he was done, I will lose all repect for Max.
He covered Leylands ass last game he pitched in the press conference.

Congrats Bill to your Red Sox for advancing to the 2013 World Series.

Give them hell and win the Series.

This has been a Great Series as we predicted ahead of time.
Lots of fun, lots of ups and downs.
The Roller Coaster ride is over for the Tigers fans.

Thanks Jimbo...Great series indeed! Thanks to ALL you Tiger fans for keeping it classy (unlike some drive-by trolls). Just glad we don't have to face Verlander tomorrow night!

The 2013 ALCS can be summed up in one word- bullpens

Yup, unfortunately, Detroit didn't have one.

Several mistakes by Leyland tonight, pulling Schrezer in the 7th at 110 pitches, could have gone another inning and then Benoit would have pitched the 9th and the Tigers had a chance.

Bringing in Smyly for 1 batter is a waste, he did his job, he's a starter in reality, so he of all people would be able to go many inning if needed.

Bringing in Veras was ok, but shouldn't have been made, had he not taken Smyly out.

Red Sox are a much healthier team and have better pitching over all, I don't understand why the public hasn't given the Sox Starters the credit they deserve.
And thier Pen is lights out .

Keep up the good work and Win the Series !

Jimbo makes a good point- the Red Sox starters aren't getting the public credit they deserve. Lackey's gone from ugly duckling to hot swan, Peavy's done his job as a trade deadline guy, Buckholtz's record doesn't lie, and Lester is who we always thought he was.

You don't need 20 win guys to have a good solid rotation. Sometimes, it's not just the numerical stuff with pitchers.

Just so everyone knows, the above post was written when the Tigers went ahead 2-1 and they had runners on and no outs in the 6th inning. And now it looks like the poster (who I don't recall posting in this thread) has signed off for the night. Credibility issues much....

I've said it all year, the Sox don't have a true #1 starter, but they have several #2's. That, a lights out bullpen, solid defense and timely hitting is their recipe for success.

No matter who wins the World Series, seven out of the last ten champions has come from three teams. The Cardinals, Red Sox and Giants have won two each (obviously this year's winner will make it three). Only the 2005 White Sox, 2008 Phillies and 2009 Yankees have bucked that trend.
