Games 6 and 7 are Friday and Saturday

Well, THAT certainly makes me feel better! ;)

That's because I am rooting for NL all the way. The Sox match up better with the NL as they are more like an NL team. A very balanced offense and defense team. A good starting and relief staff. An offense that hits for average and power and has speed.

The Tigers are more dependent on the HR. HR teams go through scoring droughts when they don't hit HRs. A dominate pitching NL team will have better luck vs the Tigers than the Sox.

Fair enough, but I think the Tigers are the only team in MLB that can match up with the Dodgers top 2 starters. The Red Sox have a very good starting 4, but they're more interchangeable. IMO, if you take the Dodgers, Tigers and Red Sox, the top four starters are all on the Dodgers and Tigers.

The Tigers top 2 guys are studs, BUT Fister/Sanchez didn't exactly have their best stuff against Oakland. Verlander/Scherzer essentially saved the day.

Plus, last time DET visited Fenway, there was the 8 homer game.

With all this talk of the Tigers, Dodgers and Red Sox, let's not forget there's another team in the final four. A team that's been very successful the last decade.

Predictions:

Red Sox in 6- Unlike last year's ALCS for Detroit, Boston is everything New York was not- don't live and die by long ball. They can manufacture runs in different ways.

Dodgers in 6- Cardinals are great, but LA is no slouch of a team themselves. I think it's a fair fight that will see multiple extra-inning games.

I fully expect high ratings for these series.

Average ticket prices for the LCS's

Fenway Park (Red Sox) - $616.14
Busch Stadium (Cardinals) - $361.71
Dodgers Stadium (Dodgers) - $332.81
Comerica Park (Tigers) - $179.86

I've never seen Comerica's ticket prices compared to other parks before. I have heard Mike Ilitch, who owns the Tigers, claim that they try to keep the ticket prices lower than other parks because Detroit is struggling so bad financially. He says he wants average, middle class fans to be able to afford to take their family to a Tigers game.

Yep. It is all relative. Not only based on demand, also the size of the stadium. Part of the reason why Fenway is so expensive is because it does not hold very many people and Dodgers stadium is less expensive is because it holds about 15,000 more than most other stadiums. Dodgers stadium holds 21,000 more people than Fenway (54% more people), less supply and more demand for Fenway. But relative cost of living and localized economy also plays a huge role as well. What is considered middle class in Boston and LA income wise would probably be considered upper class in Detroit.

No predictions, but I'll be cheering for my Tigers to win the ALCS. As for as the NLCS, I really don't care who wins because it will be a really good series should the Tigers advance to the WS. In a way it would be nice to face the Cards once again...but didn't we just do this in '34, '68 and '06? We've never faced the Dodgers in a WS so that would be an historical match-up...however, the West Coast games would most likely start a bit later. Hmmm.

Okay, I would like to see the Tigers vs Dodgers. :)

Back in the day Detroit was a vibrant economic powerhouse of 2 Million people, had some of the wealthiest counties in the country, and attracted the best and brightest talent from all over the world. Nowadays, the wealthiest counties are found in Northern Virginia and Maryland since we've outsourced all our manufacturing jobs to China in favor of building government entitlement programs in Washington. Not a political statement - just a fact. ;)

Comparing "average" ticket prices is nearly meaningless, since no team sells average tickets. If a ballpark has ten thousand more seats so far away that you can see the game better on your iPad than you can from those seats, and sells them for $10 each, that brings the average ticket price way down but does nothing for the fan who wants to sit close enough to see the game. Courtside seats for Lakers games sell for ten times as much as courtside seats at many other arenas even though there is enough demand to fill all of them because more rich people are willing to pay more money to be seen at Lakers games. Basically, each and every team prices its seats in the manner that makes it the most money.

Dodgers lineup for game 1 of the NLCS. Nice to see Ethier back

Crawford LF
M. Ellis 2B
Ramirez SS
Gonzalez 1B
Puig RF
Uribe 3B
Ethier CF
A. Ellis C
Greinke P

Having Ethier in there really extends that lineup. Just curious, who would sit if Kemp were healthy?

Very similar with the Red Sox and Cardinals. They met in the '46, '67 and 2004 World Series. The Red Sox and Dodgers have never met.

A healthy and productive Kemp, AKA MVP like, would probably spell all of the other three on a rotation. A just coming off injury Kemp would be occasionally placed in the lineup.
