I always feel the first round is the hardest to get thru, or at least the one that has the most oppertunity to have things happen you wouldn't expect.
Once you get to the 2nd round, things settle down from there.
The NHL Playoffs are the same way, 1st round, anything can happen, once you move on, you settle in and teams know what to expect.

That being said...what is the record for the 1st team to advance making it to the WS? I think it is probably not too good.

I hope the Sox don't make the WS for no other reason than I don't want to watch 4.5 hour 9 inning games.

LMAO!! Seriously? Have you actually watched any of this game? The Rays have used 9 (NINE) pitchers in this game, and you're blaming the Red Sox!! Did you see Fernando Rodney moping around on the mound in the top of the 9th? I wanted to jump through my TV screen and slap him myself. And you're seriously blaming the Red Sox? WOW!!
Finally caught a Sox-Rays game due to the whacky Tigers-A's schedule. Good game. Hope the Tigers are playing in Boston this weekend.
Regardless of what happens in either game 5, we are guaranteed another old-school World Series.

I not just talking about this game. Every game the Sox are involved in seem to last over 4 hours. Heck this is always talked about on sports talk radio as well. I was even listening to the Sox feed of last night's game coming home from work and their own announcers commentated on how the Red Sox themselves can make a 2-1 nine inning game last over 4 hours.

And because Boston closed out the series last night the Detroit - Oakland game on Thursday was moved from a 9:00pm start to 8:00pm. That alone was enough reason to root for Boston last night.
I'm exhausted from the Red Sox-Rays games the last two nights, but I want to watch as much of the Bucs-Cards game tonight. If it wasn't for my wife's love with everything reality TV, I'd be in a lot of trouble with all this baseball!!
