2013 AL Central

Another blowout win by the Tigers over the Nats this afternoon. The Nats are in serious trouble.

Really ?

Isn't this the same team that felt last year that they could pass on the playoffs (Strausberg) last year because they knew they'd be back this year in the playoffs ?

Thier Ownership is Very arrogant if you ask me ...

I picked them to meetup with Detroit in the World Series. What's happened to this team is truly unbelievable...all core players are having the worst seasons in the biggs - at the same time! Fans in the DC area have been waiting months for this team to turn-it-around and get hot...just don't see it happening with their being 10-1/2 game back.

Regardless, I never imaged Cleveland would be playing so well.

Now, take a look at the back of those players bubble gum card and see if they were playing well above thier record last year or this year is the abberation.

Indians may be on to something ... they are starting to make comeback victories a regular happening of late, winning again tonight, scoring 2 in the bottom of the 9th to tie it up and a HR in the 10th to win it.

Tigers have an off day, but Cleveland wrapping-up a home series with the White Sox at noon. The ChiSox come to town for a weekend series with the Tigers starting Friday night. I sure hope Miggy is back in the lineup because he is the one man all paying attendees want to see play....but we certainly haven't missed his bat because Victor, Tori and crew have been putting a lot of runs on the board.

So how much are the Tigers going to miss Jhonny Peralta when he's bannished for the rest fo the season? He is having a great year at the plate, and his fielding at SS has been solid even though he lacks range. Although we may slightly improve at the SS position, I say we're going to really miss his .300 BA and all those doubles down the left field line in the bottom part of the lineup. I just hope Avila (who has been showing signs lately) picks things up at the plate.

Elsewhere, can you believe Victor Martinez raised his battling average to .274? He was hitting something like .220 at the end of June. He has been hitting everything hard for more than the past month.

They will be fine with the new SS in the line up, Porcello and Fister will be thrilled.

Peralta is due to have an off year next year anyways, he's good every other year and hits about .250 the other years, so the new guy will be fine if he can hit about .240.

This is a HUGE plus for the Tigers on the D side of things.

Can I believe Victor is up to .274, YES, I was the one that kept telling everyone that he would hit and get his avg back up to around normal ... plenty of doubters, I was not one of them.

Indians won again today cutting into the Tigers lead more.
The Tigers lead is now 2 games.

Thing is, the Tigers are playing very good ball, going 9-1 in the last 10, but the Indians are hangin with them.

I had no doubt he would start hitting again...but a 50-60 point boost in BA during July was huge! Victor his something like .388 during the month. That's a Miggy-like number! Speaking of Miggy...I sure he plays tonight and get's healthy soon.

Well, Cabrera is out tonight, the new guy is playing third tonight.

Peralta hit one where Miggy hits them; HR to straight-away center field. If Jhonny's going to be suspected, he may as well get in a few shots. Shots...get it? :D

Why not? And it's nice to see his replacement joining in too.

Nice win by the Tigers...although I won't get too excited seeing they beat the White Sox who are on a free-fall. Regardless, three teams in the AL Central have 9 out of their last 10 games (including inter-league play): Detroit, Cleveland and Kansas City.

Gotta love a seven game winning streak. Go Tigers!

Fun 4 game series against the Indians coming up Monday thru Thursday.
Did the Indians MISS Schrezer or will he pitch the last game ?
