Agree 100%!!

Also, the one thing that this team has lacked for years now is a playmaker on defense. Ty Law, Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison and Richard Seymour all came up with game changing plays when this team was winning championships. IMO, that has been sorely lacking for the better part of the last decade.

After the Seymour trade, I had a feeling the team was concentrating too much on offense. Only the last 2 seasons that we've seen a stronger defensive side since maybe 2004

I predict a record low will watch Denver vs. Seattle in this year's Super Bowl...certainly not the San Francisco vs. New England game the network had hoped for.

I bet you are wrong. It doesn't matter who is in the game, there will be bunches of people watching if just for the commercials alone.

Agreed. The NFL is the one sport that it doesn't matter who is playing in championship game/round. The Super Bowl could be Jacksonville against Arizona and it still would be the most watched event of the year.

They're definitely trending towards an improved defense, but I still think they're missing that guy that comes up with a sack, INT or fumble in a game changing situation. Hopefully Jamie Collins or Chandler Jones will end up being that guy.

True but NE especially got hit pretty hard this season with the injury bug.

Which makes their season even that much more impressive. I've dreamed Miami having the kind of depth you guys have.

I don't know why people are all up in arms about Sherman's comments. One, 90 seconds ago...he just finished making a HUGE play..THE PLAY to get his team to the SB. That game was very physical ..and he played one-on-one against one of the biggest crap talkers in the NFL...

...and you guys expected what? An exchange of recipes? Media seldom interview defensive players after games, it's usually the politically correct HC or the robotic interview of a QB. We finally get raw emotion and everyone complains? Hell even Erin Andrews jump at the chance cause she new she had interview gold!

Sherman's was on a high having made the game winning play. Its not like we've all never said anything stupid ourselves while on an emotional high (or low).
Next...

Cheers, K

I get that neutral observers hate the Patriots- I really do. If I'm honest with myself, I'd hate the Patriots if I was the fan of an opposing team. That being said, the whole "Patriots can't/haven't won a Super Bowl" since spygate is beyond ludicrous. First of all, they won 17 straight games AFTER they got caught "cheating" then they lost the Super Bowl after a one in a billion play (Manning-Tyree) went against them (NOT saying that the Giants didn't deserve to win that game, just using that play as a frame of reference for the "Patriots can't win without cheating" crowd). They lost the second Super Bowl to the Giants after a receiver (Welker) drops a ball that he catches 99 out of 100 times. If Welker catches that ball, it's a first down and the Pats run out the clock. If one or both of those improbable plays don't happen then that beyond stupid theory wouldn't exist. If Patriots haters want to call it karma- I can understand that, but anything else is just silly. That argument reminds me of my brother-in-law who is a HUGE Yankees fan, and a devout Red Sox hater. In the mid 90's he INSISTED that the Red Sox would never win a championship as long as they played in that "little dump" (Fenway Park). He argued that the ballpark was too quirky and the Red Sox would ultimately lose in the postseason because they relied on the advantage of playing half their games there. I always pointed to 1986 as the reason his argument was flawed. Did Bill Buckner, Calvin Schiraldi, John McNamara, etc. all suddenly say "we can't win this thing tonight (game 6 at Shea Stadium), because we play our home games at Fenway Park"? Of course not, that's why it was a ridiculous thing to say. Just like David Tyree, Eli Manning, Wes Welker and Mario Manningham didn't suddenly say "wait, the Patriots can't win this....they are supposed to lose"!!

WOW... I swear to you that I JUST had this discussion with a very good friend sport reporter basically stating the same exact thing. He had stated that since Spygate, "the Pats have won bupkis!' I respect his opinion on most things because he has been 90% accurate on the inside scoops he has given me. But I told him he was looking at the cup half empty. My Raiders and 3/4 of the teams in the NFL would love to have played in 3 straight AFC championships.

...and I respectfully HATE the Pats...badly.

More like the U-SUCK Bowl !!!!

Denver has an avid fan base not only in Colorado, but throughout many cities in the US, just waiting for a return of the success of the Elway days. Manning still has a decent fan base in the Midwest and the South. Many more will tune in in hopes of seeing the Broncos and Manning go down, or just happy to see something a little different than New England and/or San Francisco. Throw in the fact that Superbowl XLVIII will be the first NFL championship game to be held in the New York metropolitan area since December, 1962 ... well, I wouldn't be too early to predict a record low.

Excuse me... SOMEHOW, my Raiders should be in this game as well.

Sorry Salsa, but you can't compare your Raiders to those two other franchises. At least your team has been to the top of the mountain (several times). The Browns and Lions haven't been there since Christ was a child!

I think this is a very underrated aspect of it.
