2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Yes they will, only it will be 3-2 Victory in OT for the Canucks, and if those Bostonians are true fans, they will have a parade anyways for the Bruins.

BTW, if the Canucks do win the Stanley Cup - Do they do a White House visit?

Hmmmm.....

nah they go to Stephen Harper's House (aka Parliament in Ottawa)

Raymond out 3-4 months with fractured vertebrae. I forgot to comment last night that I had the feeling he did something to his spine the way he hit the boards. I also forgot to mention series Cheesedick award #2 goes to the Boston player who intentially rammed Raymond's arse end into the boards...with zest and vigor mind you. It was a very dangerous play (void of common sense) and the player (whom I don't recall) should be benched tomorrow night. I can only suggest that people watch the recording and you'll see what I mean. I'll just glad Raymond wasn't crippled on the play.

No way the Bruins are going to lose another 1 goal game in Vancouver. I predict I'm goUCKBOAing to a Parade this weekend.

Can't wait!

I suspect Team Bill will be sitting on the edge of his seat and chewing on tums and rolaids all night. Good luck tomorrow night!!!

My stomach is in knots NOW!! I know it's cliche, but I feel like all the pressure is on the Canucks, afterall they're "supposed" to win. ;)

Thanks for your kind words sir! :)

It's easy to see that you are a fan of the classiest organization in sports.............the Detroit Red Wings!

Good Luck tomorrow Bill and the rest of the Bruins fans.

If you come with the intensity of the games at home you'll do fine, they have played well in Canada, just haven't gotten over the hump.

The old saying is,
"It's not a series till the Road team wins"

Now's as good a time as any !!!!

Tonight is your night bro...

Here's a silly reminder to Bruins and Canucks fans out there. :)

Anyway, I am still facinated by the fact one city will be screaming in delight with tears of joy flowing down their cheeks---not to mention their players skating with the Cup hoisted high overhead---while the other city will be screaming in agony and choking back tears of bitter disappointment. Gotta love the stark contrast; gotta love the do or die element involved; gotta love the finality of it all; and you just gotta love Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. :heart

Another thing I love about hockey is that all the fans (regardless of who wins tonight) will stay for the awarding of the Stanley Cup and show their respect as the winning team skates with it around the ice...unlike the 1/3rd of the fans in Miami who headed for the gates the other night with more than two minutes left to play. I'm not saying what they did was wrong, but it's certainly not something hockey fans would do. :clap

Canucks General Manager Opens a Can of Worms Over Raymond Injury

I mentioned this the other day...and I fully agree with the GM and his assessment of the penalty. In other words, Boychuk should be sitting-out Game 7 this evening after the "can opener" and intentional boarding. Seriously, if I were the GM I would dress Aaron Rome in a Raymond jersey. Also, if I were Boston I would suspend Boychuk because it is the right thing to do.

Full Story

Add one more controversy to this Stanley Cup final series filled with shattering hits on the ice and bitter accusations off it. Fittingly, it came on the eve of Game 7.

Vancouver General Manager Mike Gillis sharply criticized the N.H.L. for not suspending Boston Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk for the unpenalized check that fractured a vertebra of Vancouver Canucks forward Mason Raymond in Game 6 on Monday.

“I didn’t see the puck around him,” Gillis told reporters Tuesday evening after the Canucks’ plane arrived here from Boston. “I thought the Boston player used a can opener and drove him into the boards with enough force to break his back.”

The “can opener” refers to a maneuver in which one player puts his stick between his opponent’s legs to turn him around or knock him down. It is classed under the rules as obstruction and a two-minute minor penalty.

No penalty was called by referees Dan O’Halloran and Kelly Sutherland on the play, which took place on the first shift of Game 6 and resulted in what the Canucks called a “vertebrae compression fracture” for Raymond.

Boston boosts security for Game 7

BOSTON -- The city of Boston is taking extra precautions as it prepares for possible revelry after the seventh and deciding game of the Stanley Cup finals Wednesday.

The Boston Bruins are in Vancouver to take on the Canucks, but Boston police are deploying hundreds of extra officers to patrol the streets around TD Garden and Fenway Park, neighborhoods with dozens of sports bars where fans congregate. State police and transit police are also beefing up their presence.

Raucous celebrations after big wins by the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics in the past seven years have resulted in three deaths and widespread vandalism.

The city and police have learned from those tragedies, Boston police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said.

The city banned on-street parking in the same areas from 6 p.m. ET Wednesday to 2 a.m. ET Thursday and urged fans to use public transportation.

Bars are being asked to take in or secure outdoor furniture, black out windows to prevent crowds from gathering outside to watch the TVs inside, and not admit any customers after the end of the game's second period...

After consulting with police, the Bruins also decided against holding a viewing party for as many as 15,000 fans at TD Garden...

The article goes on to describe incidents leading to injuries and deaths following previous Boston championship victories during the prior decade.

So Vancouver ( I've seen other cities do this as well ) can hold these parties, but not Boston!? They should charge $10 a head and donate the money to charity.

Things to digest going into tonight's winner take all extravaganza.....................

* Out of the last 20 Finals game 7's in MLB/NBA/NHL, the home team has won 19 times (only the Penguins defeating the Red Wings in '09 bucks that trend).

* This is the Bruins first Finals game 7 EVER. In fact, the Bruins haven't played a "win and you get the Stanley Cup" game since they beat the Rangers in 1972

* If the Bruins win tonight, Boston will become the first city ever to have all four championships within a 10 year period

LET'S GO BRUINS!!!! :)

I think the Canucks are going to win tonight because of two reasons: Luongo playing on home ice, and the team rallying around their injured player Mason Raymond. Of course, Boston could bring with them some of that TD Garden magic and take Vancouver behind the woodshed. I guess we'll just have to tune-in and see what happens.

Another interesting angle to tonight's game: the Bruins Mark Recchi is going for his third Stanley Cup in as many decades (Pittsburgh '91 and Carolina '06).
