2011 AL Central Thread

Not sure if it's reached the rest of the division, but Grady Sizemore is back in the DL after tweaking his knee again. This guy just can't stay healthy! Normally, this wouldn't be such a big deal, but we're already thin in the outfield with Choo on the DL with a broken thumb. Time for the no-name youngsters to step up as they've been doing so well all season.

Tigers really need to pick up a Lead Off hitter and drop Jackson down to the 9 hole, they guy just doesn't know how to work a pitcher, 3 pitches to start the game, and a K to boot.

Those last two losses were costly for MN. I still have a feeling this division could come down to the last day or two of the season. No offense to anyone but Detroit and Cleveland get the lead and don't capitalize and Chicago sure isn't out of it at 4.5 back. Last two losses for MN hurt but 7 games is possible in this division.

If Tigers don't win the AL Central and make it to the ALCS....Leyland & Company are gone.

I'm just hoping they can find a way to win the AL Central (and not implode). We shall see..

Will the REAL TWIN'S please stand up .... They have crawled back into the race and now lose the first 2 to Cleveland ( where they can make the MOST ground up) and only have 2 hits and trail 1-0 in the 7th.
Usually it's pretty hard to lose both ends of a DH. ( I know, the Tigers are good at that )

Btw, they can sit back down later in the week when they play the Tigers ! :D

Tigers winning 8-3 in the 8th tonight.

Rookie Duane Below to start tomorrow's game.
He's 9-4 in Toledo with a 3.13 era with 83 K's, 37 walks in 115 innings

Nice to see Al Alburquerque back and healthy in the Tigers pen :D

Tigers win tonight with Porcello getting the win, his third straight going 6 giving up 3 ER's, 3K's and 0 walks

I swear the standings pretty much look like they did two weeks ago.

Two weeks ago, last year, the year before. Got to love the AL central :)

Things got dicey in the 9th when a non-outfielder (Valbuena) misplayed two balls hit to him, advancing runners further than they should've gotten. Reason a "non-outfielder" was playing the outfield in the first place? Choo (thumb) and Sizemore (knee) are on the DL. Our other starting outfielder, Michael Brantley missed the game with a stomach virus. Our backup outfielder, Travis Buck took a fastball to the skull and was removed from the game. We're basically running out of capable backups. Not an excuse, but a big reason for the loss last night...

That was spooky. Liriano looked spooked by it as well. Any word on Buck's status?

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
