So you really think there's a difference between pulling someone down by the neck of their jersey vs pulling them down by the inside of their shoulder pads? Not much more than semantics, and maybe another inch and a half of give before it has the exact same result.

I knew they were going to fine him but why not the raven player who got a penalty for the exact same thing.

Nice analogy ...

Remember, Chicago doesn't necessarily want Cutler either ...

The majority of Bears fans still realize that Cutler is the most talented QB the Bears have had in a long time and want him. ANd his teammates are firmly behind him.

Well, you KNOW how the NFL goes STRICTLY by the WORD of the rule ..... this is NOT how the rule is written.

Another 1/2 inch ?
Another 1/2 inch and many hits to the head would not BE that.

That's why I suggested that they put him in the backfield like Ronnie Brown when he was with the Dolphins. He could be another Peyton Hillis(who the Broncos let get away). The Broncos were always know for their gimmick plays,a boring "conservative" Broncos team is an oxymoron, the two just don't go together. I'm not knocking Knowshon Moreno, but he has been known to get hurt a lot.

Comparing Tebow to Peyton Hillis is just wrong.

It's not just the QB,look at the running back(Peyton Hillis) & the WR(Brandon Marshall) they traded away. Tim Tebow seems to be the only player the Broncos have that excites the fans right now. We'll see how it goes this coming weekend with the Bengals.

This is what Denver fans can't seem to wrap their heads around and what's going to ruin that franchise. It's NOT about generating "excitement" and pizzazz. It's about WINNING! If The Bottle was deemed the best QB by John Fox (who know's football more than you, I and every fan in Denver combined), then get behind him and let him do his thing.

Compliments! This is a very good attitude! No wonder Chicago is such a good environment for a QB's success!

Oh, now Steelers fans want all the rules they hate to be followed to the letter, cute. The intent of the rule is to prevent those kinds of takedowns, if you can't see that then there's really no point discussing it. Do you have an NFL rulebook, since you seem to be so familiar with "the WORD of the rule" ? No, "do YOU?" is not a valid response. You're the one all but quoting it...

At least Polamalu has come a long way from spouting off nonsense:

“I’m not a big fan of people being really vocal about the fines,” he said.

Oh, look. I found an NFL rulebook online, this is from 2009.

Section 2 Personal Fouls
Article 1 All players are prohibited from:
(d) grabbing the inside collar of the back of the shoulder pads or jersey, or the inside
collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling down the
runner. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback
who is in the pocket

Lioins will continue to be leading the league with a perfect record after this weekend. :)

I agree. Best line I've seen about that game was that the Lions haven't been this heavily favored since they played in the Roman Colliseum. This is actually the most they've been favored in a game since 2000, they were +9 and lost by 3 to the Bears.

Because of the possibility of a lockout when the schedule was being made, this is a very unusual week in the NFL...no division games whatsoever.

Tony Gonzalez is 5 receptions from passing Terrel Owens and taking 5th place on the all-time receptions list.

Pretty good shot at ending the season (and likely career) at number 2 behind only Jerry Rice. Amazing for a tight end.

1549 Jerry Rice
1102 Marvin Harrison
1101 Cris Carter
1094 Tim Brown
1078 Terrell Owens
1074 Tony Gonzalez

He broke Sharpe's record in 2007 after he retired, and has tacked on 200 more receptions. Like Rice's record, I am not sure we'll see a Tight End catch this many passes again.

Fines were announced today... After judiciously watching the game tape over and over for more infractions Fidel Goodell also fined Steeler Ike Taylor for a headbutt! WHAT IS THIS LEAGUE COMING TOO WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN HEADBUTT A GUY!? Of course, it was a Steeler, clearly why he didn't get away with it.

There is a Raven player that got a penalty for a horse collar also but no surprise he didn't get a fine.

I knew they were going to fine him but why not the raven player who got a penalty for the exact same thing.

He was fined $15K today. WHAT IS THIS LEAGUE COMING TO!? Fining NOT just STEELERS !?

The humanity. The injustice. It's gone too far.

The yellow & gold tinfoil beanie troops will be so disappointed. :)

There's been some good TE's, but Gonzalez is the best ever, IMHO.

A good part of the number of receptions Gonzalez has are a direct reflection to the lack of talent San Diego had at WR.

Not taking anything away from Gonzalez, just saying.
