Last year definately no fluke. He has always been, IMHO, a very good QB. He wore down only because that offensive line is not very good, that has been addressed this year that the line is theonly weakness...a very glaring one. So with that said, that should not be held accountable against him. As far as his value, that time team goes NO WHERE without. Kolb was given a plenty of chances to where the QB position was his to lose...and he lost it to the point of him being traded.

This rant needs a fact check. Kolb was not given 'plenty of chances' where the job was his to lose. He was made the starting QB for opening day last year with Vick as the backup, and lost the job after one game due to his concussion.

That was his 'plenty of chances'.

Now it's being reported that Vick's new deal will count $14.4M towards the cap this year. Doesn't seem worth giving $40M guaranteed to save $1.6M....

i'm sorry but vick was not a good QB in Atlanta. He's an exciting player to watch but the best i've ever seen vick is now with the eagles. i hope its not a fluke. i've always felt he has a cannon for an arm.
i think kolb will not meet expectations. i don't see where some get this guy is worthy of the contract he got in arizona. if i'm wrong i will admit it when he proves otherwise.

I agree, but Kolb will be given his real chance to prove he can or can't though.

The question about Vick was always can he return to the form we saw him developing into before his career was blown up and he went to prison.

Not only did he do that, but he surpassed it. That's why he deserves this contract, as the franchise player for the Eagles. Not only did he surpass his best season passing the ball (playing in only 12 games), but had the historic game against the Redskins to seal the deal.

Saving $1.6m this year is absolutely worth it if you only have $2.1m or less cap room available.

If he didn't get this kind of contract from the Eagles he would have been franchised again or would have gotten this kind of money next year from another team. I haven't seen the details (other than a headline that says there's no conduct-based provisions in it) but it's probably just really a 3-4 year deal anyways.

Was he(Kolb) not there when McNabb was the starter? Then McNabb was traded, it was his job to lose. He was ineffective, then he got injured. The Vick was incerted as a started and played well enough where the Eagles coaches thought he was their best chance to win, day in and day out. So much so that they traded Kolb...

No ofense to your opinion, I think I will trust the Eagles brass more than yours.... ;-)

Listen, I'm not saying the Eagles did the wrong thing. With the way Vick was playing, the choice was obvious. They hit a home run when they traded Kolb too. All good for them.

The only statement of yours I gave a fact check for is that 'Kolb was given plenty of chances where the job was his to lose'. That's not true. It was just that one game.

As I said, Kolb played that one game and got injured. Vick took over and took over the job. That was the extent of Kolb's 'plenty of chances'.

Hopefully this works out for the Eagles and for Kolb.

From PFT on Twitter:

Vick's sixth year for $20M is phony -- it voids if he takes 35 percent of the snaps in any year of the deal. It's NOT a $100M deal.

###

Though to be accurate, it's a $100m deal until he takes 35% of the snaps this year.

2009, when the Eagles were at a crossroads of benching McNabb for in effectiveness....he played 5 games. In 2010, he played 7 games. Having been in their "system" for 3 years.

Deleted my own post.

Your statement is a partial truth, but I'm not going to continue it...this has to end somewhere. I'll be the one.

As I said, hopefully this works out for the best for both Kolb and the Eagles...heck, even McNabb.

LOL! If you say so Sandra. It went from, "The only statement of yours I gave a fact check for is that 'Kolb was given plenty of chances where the job was his to lose'. That's not true. It was just that one game." ....to, "Your statement is a partial truth"....

Just saying....

I will move on and I agree, I hope it works out for all those involved in the "vortex".:D

Whatever. I already said I'm not arguing this anymore. Sorry.

As I said, hopefully this works out for the best for the Eagles, Kobb, McNabb, Rogers-Cromartie, and everyone else involved.

Ramy will thank me for doing the right thing for a change, so one of these finally ends...

Raiders make their roster cuts

Posted by Mike Florio on August 30, 2011, 2:36 PM EDT

The Oakland Raiders have moved toward the Tuesday deadline of 80 players on the active roster by making a flurry of moves.

According to Steve Corkran of BayAreaNewsGroup.com, the Raiders have released offensive linemen Ben Lamaak and Lou Eliades, receivers Damola Adeniji and Steve Goulet, fullback Bryson Kelly, defensive tackle Derrick Hill, and safety Josh Bullocks.

Bullocks is a six-year veteran who spent his first four seasons with the Saints and the last two with the Bears. He appeared in all 18 games last season.

The Raiders also placed linebacker Travis Goethel and offensive lineman Alan Pelc on injured reserve.

I wonder if any, how much room does that clear in the salary cap.
