ESPN.com news services
The Seahawks have reached an agreement with Oakland Raiders tight end Zach Miller, a source told ESPN.com.

The 25-year-old Miller has led the Raiders in receiving each of the past three seasons.

He had 60 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.

Miller has 226 catches for 2,712 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career. He is third on the Raiders' list for receptions by tight ends, trailing Todd Christensen (461) and Dave Casper (255).

Miller joined the Raiders as a second-round pick out of Arizona State in 2007.

Information from ESPN.com senior NFL writer John Clayton, ESPN.com's Mike Sando and The Associated Press was used in this report.

After all the progress the Raiders made last year, ALL of Al Davis' contractual sins have comeback to bite Raider fans in the a$$!

It is gonna take alot of wins for Raider fans to forgive Al Davis for losing the two best and most popular players in less than 1 week.

F#@% you Al Davis!!

Zach Miller getting 5 years, $34m contract, $17m gtd, said tipping point was Tom Cable, not money.

Great job by Tom in recruiting him. If I was in that situation, I would chose Tom over Al Davis too!

Piece of $&!7 Al Davis....!

I am a little disappointed in the fact that Zach stated he felt wanted in Seattle....ALL indications show the Raiders DID want him. From the what I read, it was familiarity with Cables' offense and close relationship with Robert Gallery.

Raiders took 2 steps forward with a .500 record, undefeated in the division...and now 4 steps back. Throw in not adding some veteran leadership to the receiving corps and O-line and now a uncertain time to heal for a broke hand to Jacoby Ford.... an awful start to the pre-season.

Thats going to come back and BITE him when the Pats beat them.

Well, as much as Ryan's mouth gets tiresome-and as much as I hate to admit it- he (and more to the point his team) did back up his words last January. And that was five weeks after getting embarrassed, 45-3 on national TV.

We'll just have to wait and see if this year is different...

More comments from Zach Miller, he basically waited around forever for the Raiders to get a deal done and instead they worked on other players. Cable reached out to him, pushed the Seahawks to get him and he ultimately accepted after a great visit.

Zach Miller: Tom Cable helped bring me to Seattle | ProFootballTalk

Raider Nation is hurting Tuesday night after losing their most consistent offensive player in Zach Miller.

It has to hurt worse for Al Davis because his former coach Tom Cable was instrumental in bringing Miller to Seattle.

“Coach Cable gave me a call Saturday morning and saw I wasn’t signed yet, kind of feeling the Raiders would have done it by then,” Miller told Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. “He said, ‘We want you here and I’m going to make a push to get you here.’

“I took a visit, and my wife and I just loved it. I’m still kind of blown away.”

We don’t blame him. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Miller got $17 million guaranteed and $34 million over the next five years. We heard that Miller got an attractive offer from Oakland before the lockout and they apparently thought they were close to a deal as recently as Tuesday.

Instead, Oakland chose to spend huge dollars on Stanford Routt, Kamerion Wimbley, and Richard Seymour before locking Miller up. They lost a leader who at 25 years old was just hitting his prime. It sounds like Miller wanted to stay, but Oakland took too long.

“When I was going into the last year of my rookie deal I was hoping to get extended and get a longterm contract and it didn’t happen. Then the season ended and I was expecting a deal and it didn’t happen either. Throughout the process I was expecting it and it just never happened,” Miller said.

After watching the Raiders overpay their own guys for years, we expected it too. Miller actually deserved the money.
