More likely to happen would be to take Luck and let him learn behind Peyton for a few years, provided Peyton is able to come back next year.

Welp, Carson Palmer made his debut for Oakland ... and threw 3 INTs in just one half. Why did they trade away TWO first round picks (*potentially) for this guy? His skills have been diminishing for 3 years now.
At least those games were close, the Colts got BLOWN out.
And in defense of my Browns, we're not nearly as inept at the other 4 teams you mention. Cleveland actually has a dominating defense. Yep. I said it. Dominating. We were #7 in the NFL heading into this game. After Sunday, that number will only go up. Our trouble is on offense. And without Peyton Hillis (out with hammy) and with our #1 WR (Massaquoi) and #1 TE (Ben Watson) leaving the game with concussions, it surely didn't help matters.
Who's going to trade a "buttload" of picks for a QB coming off 3 neck surgeries due to make $69 million over the next 3 years?

i hear what HD is saying and its true his output has declined the last few years but i agree completely with what you're saying. no QB could've played well under those exact circumstances. now in a few weeks it can be judged differently.
I'm just saying. I watching Palmer for years very closely. He used to be in the division I follow after all (AFC North). His skills have been rapidly diminishing (like McNabb and Favre last year). All I'm saying is that the verdict is still out on him and that until he proves otherwise, Palmer is going to have to turn water into wine in order to make me a believer again.

You watched a Palmer that had OTAs, a preseason AND the same offense for the last 8 or so years. There is NO WAY...ANY, from Bart Starr to Joe Namath to Roger Staubach to Joe Montana to Tom Brady could learn an ENTIRE teams playbook AND get his timing in synch with a BRAND NEW WR corp, new coaches and new schemes...
....in 3 days.
Talk to me after 3 or 4 weeks..then you will get a better gauge of him having "rapidly dimished skills".

Was the problem Palmer, or the fact that Palmer did not practice much? Nobody knows for sure right now.
But it's a long season, and just like with Nnamdi...

Neither. The last thing a SMART Raider fan wanted was to see Palmer at all. I sure as hell didn't want to. I would much rather had seen Pryor in there because he has been in the meetings, seen the game films and though limited in his practice due to his 5 game power trip by Goodell...he at least has a strong arm and much more mobility and speed than Boller.
...did I mention how AWFUL he was?
Anyway, I was SCREAMING at my TV to NOT bring him in. I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, as soon as Boller threw that pick-6... I knew we were going to lose.

Sorry...we must have added it at the same time. I did not see yoru post when I typed mine in.
Palmer has been on a decline since the steelers took him out of that playoff game. I agree he needs time to learn the offense and get the rust off but he won't be the savior that the raiders are hoping for.
With the way Boller was playing, there really no reason NOT to bring Palmer in...regardless of how Palmer was going to play yesterday. If nothing else, it will hopefully accellerate Palmer's learning curve slightly.
That said, my point remains...the jury is out on Palmer for the last nine games of the season. For the price they paid, Palmer has to play well THIS YEAR. He didn't have to play well yesterday, but after the bye week Palmer needs to come out strong and play well to justify his price tag.
We gonna find out, Nnamdi.
