Mike Brown is looking like an absolute shrewd genius right now. He had leverage w/Palmer and used it well. Let him sit, paid him nothing, retained his rights, found a desperate team, dealt.

2 first round picks for a rotting corpse?! WOW!!!

From Andrew Brandt: "In 2012, Palmer due $11.5 million from the Raiders. A 2012 mid-first round pick will cost the Bengals about $8 million over four years."

Normally, I'd be a lot more bitter about Oakland sending two (potentially) #1 picks to Cincy for the rotting corpse of Carson Palmer if I didn't remember that Mike Brown was controlling those picks. Hello, Andre Smith, David Pollack and Chris Perry! Hey, speaking of which, does David Klinger, Akili Smith or Ki-Jana Carter have any kids in the next few drafts? :D

Lets wait what he does 1st in uniform before we call him a rotting corpse.

HD, did you see NFL Films Presents last week? Great segment on Josh Cribbs and James Harrison. Only Cribbs was interviewed.

The two played together at Kent State, Cribbs was the QB. He was talking about one practice where he was wearing the white shirt, meaning he couldn't be hit. In one drill Harrison absolutely levels him anyway...and he said at the same time the coaches were yelling at Harrison for hitting him, Harrison was yelling at Cribbs to get up and stop being a baby!

They showed the hit at the practice (it was bad) but not the yelling. I guess the cameras stopped rolling!

Great piece about the two, and how they are still rivals years later.

I didn't catch that episode, but I WAS in Kent State during the time both Cribbs and Harrison were playing for the Flashes and saw a few live games. At the time, I never would've thought either of them would have the impact that they still do today at the NFL level.

I'm sure Ramy and Bengal fans can attest, Carson Palmer has been a regressing talent for quite some time now. The Raiders giving a first rounder in 2012 and a 2nd in 2013, that could move to a 1st is a rich deal...a really rich deal. wow!!!

Again, I am gonna do a 'wait and see' approach. Do I think the Raiders gave up too much? On paper, absolutely...but until I see the end result of him being the QB... Not gonna judge just yet. You don't know what he can do with THIS offense because I think there is more talent on THIS Raider teams than those Bengal teams... just thinking off head.

Also, you do not know what the "conditions" of the conditional pick might be. If he lead us into the playoffs both years...it might be worth it.....might.

TWO (*potentially) FIRST ROUND PICKS FOR THIS GUY?????????????????????????????

According to Mort: "The conditional pick in 2013 is 1st rounder if Raiders win 1 playoff game or it's a 2nd rounder. The Bengals still get the 1st rounder next April."

its a high price but i guess it makes some sense since the raiders are a lot closer to being a compete team than some of these other teams in need of a QB.

What would make this trade worth it to you? Is simply making the playoffs enough? The Raiders are continuing to mortgage their future to win now as they tried to do with the Seymour trade, so far that's only gotten them to 8-8. Between this and Seymour, the Raiders will have spent potentially 3 first round draft picks over 4 years for 2 32 year old players.

This a boom or bust proposition IMO, if you don't think this takes you all the way you don't make this trade.

on the bengals side of things, its about time the owner stopped being so hard headed about this situation. you have now helped your team for the future. the team should always come first before any one player.
