2011-12 NFL Playoffs

I'm sure the Broncos never thought they would actually be on the hook for this money when Tebow signed his deal...

As memory serves me they got stuck pretty bad when Elway got injured one season. I thought they had traded for a backup quarterback who had a clause in his contract saying that if he ever took the most snaps during a season, he'd get paid 10% more than the highest played player on the team, and he did. So far, I haven't been able to confirm that.

Update: So far, the closest to that scenario I have found was that in 1983, John Elway had 259 passing attempts while Steve DeBerg had 215. Maybe it was just a "What if...?".

Looks like the CBS studio guys are officially on the Tebow bandwagon... ;)

This will be the fifth Saturday primetime playoff game the Patriots have hosted since the NFL Playoffs went primetime in 2001-02. This Saturday night's forecast looks wimpy compared to some of the others:

2001-02 divisional playoff vs. Oakand- played in a raging snowstorm, and forever known as the "tuck game"

2003-04 divisonal playoff vs. Tennessee- played in sub zero wind chills. IMO, one of the most underrated postseason games in the Brady/Belichick era. Pats won a slugfest, 17-14

2005-06 wild card playoff vs. Jacksonville- game time temp 20 degrees. Pats win in a blowout

2007-08 divisional playoff vs. Jacksonville- game time temp 24 degrees. Pats pull away in the second half to improve their record to 17-0

This Saturday night in Foxborough: 30 degrees and clear

BTW, the Pats played in one other primetime playoff game- 2005-06 divisonal playoff AT Denver- the Broncos gave Brady/Belichick their first ever postseason loss, after starting 10-0.

Divisional Round Predictions............

Saints 31,
49ers 20
Patriots 38, Broncos 20
Ravens 26, Texans 7
Giants 38, Packers 35 (OT)

Divisional predictions:

Saints over 49ers- New Orleans won't go nuts, but it'll be enough

Patriots over Broncos- New England will have to go nuts

Ravens over Texans- Baltimore does just enough.

Packers over Giants- NY plays a good game, but don't see another 2007-esque run

As was pointed out to me here. The Broncos are still the only team in the NFL that Brady has a losing record against... So we shall see.

And last time he smoked them like a Marlboro. Tim will play OK, but I don't think they can stop the Patriots O. We'll see, anything is possible. The TE's are a match up nightmare.

I heard an incredible stat today:

The Pats lifetime postseason record is 21-15. Out of those 15 losses, they've lost to 14 DIFFERENT teams (including losses to 3 different NFC teams in Super Bowls).

The ONLY team that's defeated the Pats twice in the postseason is the Denver Broncos.

Yeah, right, we got beat, BUT they were behind 16-7.

Those 4 fumbles had nothing to do with it.......

You can thank me later for getting that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
