Poll: Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is America’s favorite athlete
By PATRICK SAUNDERS
Tebow-mania is reaching the stratosphere.
According to a new ESPN Sports Poll ESPN Sports Poll -- Denver Broncos' Tim Tebow is U.S.' favorite active pro athlete - ESPN, the Broncos’ quarterback is now America’s favorite active pro athlete.
The poll, which is calculated monthly, had Tebow on top the list for the month of December. And get this, in the 18 years of the ESPN Sports Poll, only 11 different athletes have held the No. 1 spot in monthly polling. That illustrious includes the like of Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and LeBron James.
In December’s poll, Tebow was picked by 3 percent of those surveyed as their favorite active pro athlete. That put him ahead of Kobe Bryant (2 percent), Aaron Rodgers (1.9 percent), Peyton Manning (1.8 percent) and Tom Brady (1.5 percent) in the top-five of the results.
Tebow is just the sixth different athlete to finish No. 1 in the monthly rankings since 2007. The others are Brett Favre, Manning, Woods, Bryant and James.
Given his popularity, I'd have to think Tebow will be a front runner to grace next year's Madden cover. The Madden Curse vs. Timothy Tebow. Now THAT would be a matchup for the ages!
The snow is flying in Green Bay. From the Twitters
New Orleans @ San Francisco- A classic offense vs. defensive match-up. All I keep hearing about is how New Orleans isn't the same team outside of the Superdome. I suppose that's a fair way in justifying a possible win by San Francisco. But I don't buy it. At all. In order for the Niners to win, they'd have to hold the Saints to under 20 points. And I just don't see that happening. The Niners were a good story this year, but the Saints roll in this one. Easily.
Quite a bold prediction in my opinion considering how the 49rs played this regular season, especially on defense and special team. And the offense is not that bad really. Decent running game, decent passing game. Just look at the stats. But I respect your opinion. Realize also that the 49rs had a bye week, they're playing at home, and they are hungry. Given these intangibles, I predict that it will be a very close game, maybe 21-17, and the 49rs will be the victor. Cheers!
it DOES snow in the Tri-state area and does get cold too.... I HIGHLY doubt weather will affect the Giants.
