As a Buffalo Sabres fan, I can sympathize with you.

I don't want to sound like a cry-baby, but I saw Phoenix committing a penalty-a-minute in last night's game---holding, interference, slashing, hitting players not playing the puck---and nothing was being called...not even the high stick to Lindstrom's face (5-minute major since it drew blood) right at center ice. Regardless, the Wings didn't play well and Phoenix managed to take what the refs were allowing them to get away with.I was very impressed with the crowd in Phoenix last night. I fully expected there to be at least 1/3 Red Wing fans, but that was very much not the case. Coyote fans were loud and proud, definitely a factor in the game.

Anyway, Pittsburgh and San Jose also ran into trouble last night. This years 1st round is shaping up to be an interesting one indeed.
I agree..but many of them were downright obvious...and the refs must have been asleep not to have seen Lindstrom take a stick to the chops at the middle of center ice. My biggest complaint (with all the games I have seen so far) is the rules appear to have changed drastically from the regular season. While I enjoy the added physical play, here is what I preduct will happen in these series: there will lots of cheap shots in games 2 and 3, and all of a sudden the NHL will flip-flop and start calling penalties for skating on a players shadow or giving dirty looks.Eh, calls tend to even out in the long run. Nobody ever remembers the calls/ non-calls that went in FAVOR of their team.
It's not like the zebras have a vendetta against the Wings or any other team for that matter. I fear for the Yankees and Red Sox, though, the next time Joe West is behind the plate for one of their games!

It is quite interesting that you can have a player in plain sight get a stick to the face and be cut and bleeding and the refs look the other way and say nothing.Eh, calls tend to even out in the long run. Nobody ever remembers the calls/ non-calls that went in FAVOR of their team.
