2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Yup, just ask us Bruins fans...........

How do you feel about that trade in retrospect?

Of the three guys they got in the trade, only Sturm has produced, and is the only acquired player still on, the B's (Stuart moved on to Detroit, Wayne Primeau played 1 and a half years for Boston with just 13 goals). But it allowed them the cap room to sign Savard and Chara in the summer of 2006.

The biggest variables are the best players of the San Jose Sharks. If Thornton, Heatley, Boyle and Marleau play up to their potential the Sharks have a very good chance to win. The best players of the Wings are much more consistent, you know what you'll get from them night in and night out during the playoffs.

The pressure is especially on Joe Thornton. His legacy will be seriously damaged by yet another bad playoff series.

Sandra

Pressure should also be on Wings Franzen, time for him to get HOT :up

Franzen had a goal and assist last night- in fact, he's on an 8-point scoring streak (has at least 1 point in every playoff game). He's responding to any pressure you mentioned.

He's a very hot scorer when he gets going, he needs to keep shooting.
He only has 2 goals so far in the playoffs.

It may not need to happen, but, he CAN CARRY the team need be.

A man walked into a bar and asked for a Ovechkin. The bartender asked what is a Ovechkin and the man said it's a white Russian without a cup.

:D:D:D:D

Yep thats what I call a genuine @ss whoopin. I think we needed that to get back on our game!

Hope you buy into that theory, I don't ....

It's NEVER better to lose a game to wake up.

I'd much rather win the game and then realize you didn't play very well and wake up !

Wings lost the last game and to a man KNEW they didn't play well, they expect tonight to be a much better effort.

and it better be !

The first three goals should weigh as much on the D and the Wingers as much as the goalie.

Generally speaking when a goalie doesn't have a bad spell he's really good.

If no goalie let in a bad goal hear and there, it would be less interesting :D

Sometimes goalies play fabulous and still get beat.

Jimbo, SabresRule is right. You want to win a Stanley Cup, your goalie has to be in the zone and stop the puck when the defense gives up gifts. Look no further for an example than Montreal's goalie in the last 3 games of the Washington series. That kind of goalkeeping brings home the Cup.

As for the Det./SJ series, well it just got started, didn't it? If we can grab a split today, (and we will), we'll have them right where we need them.

I understand needing a hot goalie.....
Sabre thinks that Howard has to throw a shutout every game in order to win anything for some reason.

Over all he's played very well, he's had a few bad goals as all goalies have.
He's played much better than a Wings fan would have thought being his FIRST run in the playoffs.
He is a rookie afterall.

TV audience up from 2009

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- U.S. viewership of the NHL playoffs increased 24 percent from 2009, the league's highest average first-round audience in 10 years.

The NHL said Friday that NBC and Versus combined to average 742,000 viewers per telecast. That's the most since ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 had 750,000 in 2000.

Versus averaged 595,000 viewers, a 35 percent increase from 2009 and the league's best showing on cable since ESPN/ESPN2 in 2001 (608,000). Versus averaged a .7 rating, up 75 percent from 2009.

NBC averaged 430,000 viewers for its four broadcasts, an 18 percent increase over 2009. Its 1.1 average rating was the best since 2006 and up 10 percent from last year.

The rating is the percentage of all homes with TVs, whether or not they are in use.

I'm not surprised, these playoffs have been nothing short of spectacular!! :up

Habs win game 2 and tie their series.

Halak played more like he did in the last 3 games against Washington and less like the shaky goalie I saw om Friday night

The dynamic-duo of NBC and Versus certainly did nothing to help the past few years. Versus is just starting to produce adequate coverage whereas NHL on NBC is still a stinkfest.
