2010 NBA Playoffs

boy that comment of yours is dated exactly a month ago today.. who would of thought that now LOL
I also counted the Lakers out way too early. Damn the team was playing like horse crap the last 2 months of the season, and just like the Celtics, they got it together at the right time

well don't jump for joy with the Lakers just yet.. Phoenix is for real, should be a good series. I got tix for both games at home (1&2) :D

For Cavs/Celtics game 6, this feels like a coin-flip.

I think it could go either way.

On one hand, LeBron and Cleveland will have all the incentive in the world to bounce back from the stunning game 5 rout and try to force a game 7.

On the other hand, Garnett talked about having a game 7 mentality in game 6, and the way Boston played on Monday, I could also see their big guns continuing to fire on all cylinders.

Personally, I think this has the makings of a classic game.

Oddly enough, I woke up this morning feeling surprisingly optimistic. On Tuesday, I didn't feel at ease. I just fail to accept this is the way LeBron is going to go out. This is not the story book ending it was supposed to be. 2 things the Cavs have going for them...

1. After the Game 5 slaughter, just about everyone in Cleveland has accepted the inevitable fate of them losing this series. At this point, no evidence has suggested they will be able to come-back based on the way they've played so far this series. This might ease some pressure this team is feeling.

2. They are on the road. Perhaps this is exactly what the Cavs need. They won't be playing in front of their hometown arena and surrounded by nervous energy. Instead, they are getting away from the melt-down that has transpired in Cleveland over the last 48 hours and will play in Boston, where the Celtics have actually lost MORE games this year than they lost on the road.

Actually, the Lakers almost got it together a couple of games too late. ;)

But you are right about you and garlic breath jumping ship way too early...at 2-2 in the OKC series. It's OK, I lived in LA for three years...I know how that works. Some girl in New Jersey, however, kept the faith and still picked the Lakers to win even when the Durants had all the momentum going for them, and Laker fans were bailing on their own team.

Welcome back to the bandwagon! I kept a seat warm for ya while you were gone.

I'll make a prediction: tonight's Cavs-Celtics game will be the highest rated NBA playoff game EVER on cable............

I don't know really. I just sense a blowout tonight going into the 4th quarter. I have a strange feeling one team tonight will have EVERYTHING going their way....calls, loose balls, bounces...everything.

Thats not good new for the Celtics then. Every time there's been a blowout in this series, the winner was the road team.

I was picking my nephew up at soccer practice last night, and I heard some dads talking about this series, and the NBA in general. They were saying how the NBA is fixed, Lebron is in on it, and the league wants a game seven.

Now you know me, I didn't want to get into an argument or anything, :D so I just listened and smiled. I could have pointed out that the other three second round series didn't even make it to a fifth game, let alone a seventh, but what the heck, I let them go on their little rant.

After they were done they all patted themselves on the back, and agreed college basketball is much better than the NBA because it's not fixed like the NBA is. Oh brother...

Congrats on your restraint, Sandra! :D

But seriously, I don't know how you did it. The "fix" talk pisses me off as much as the "chokejob" talk!!

This just in, from the Department of the Strange, second round edition...

In the Phoenix Suns' four games their point totals were 111, 110, 110 and 107.

In that same series, the San Antonio Spurs' point totals were 102, 102, 96 and 101.

In their series with the Jazz, the Lakers' point totals were 104, 111, 111, and 111.

'Fix' talk really is ridiculous. But you know how some guys get really defensive when a girl challenges their sports intellectual superiority...so I let them think they all just accomplished the sports dad version of splitting the atom. ;)

Funny how you mention the word "fix" in the NBA and down here. The guys at the Dan LeBatard Show have none other than Tim Donaghy picking all the games on a per game basis....and the scary part is....he has been just about perfect for every single game but 2.

He mentioned that he does not believe that their is a fix in with the league of officials but DOES state that there are officials that DO ref based on if they like certain players and/or certain teams.

...and I totally believe him on this.

I don't know what you're saying here

If this series has been "fixed" it certainly isn't the refs who are doing the fixing. No game has been close enough to be decided by a few errant calls.

I always figured it was natural for refs to favor the home team. It is good for the attendance of the home team for it to have a better record at home so as to encourage and reward attendance, it is good for the league to have home teams favored in the playoffs because it tends to slightly prolong the series, and it is personally gratifying to the referees to be booed less frequently on close calls.
