2010 NBA Playoffs

But not like when Shaq was here. This started after Shaq left. One radio station (104.1) ripped the owner( Rich DeVos) for years and wanted the team to leave . Again, I was here in during the time Shaq was here. It's not even close to that and it might never be that way again. Where did you see the Magic Excitement at Downtown Disney?

I agree completely. Ive lived here in Orlando all my life and the 96 playoff run was the height of the Magic in this city. I mean with Nick, Dennis, Shaq, Penny etc, the city was all a gitty. Everyone "believed in magic". You could not go into a store without seeing one of those signs, or look at a car without a bumer sticker..

Now its far and few between you find anyone excited about the Magic. I think it maybe due to the fact the team sucked for so long, that people lost interest. Or the fact the owner could care less about the fans and the city

...there are YOUR reasons right there.... But don't say that too loud because those that do understand that about Florida and the sports fans don't get that. It's a transient state with different type of fans moving in and out of areas in this state all the time.

I think most understand that is the difference between Florida sports fans and sports fans in the rest of the country.

I think Rich DeVos cares about the city and the fans because of the way the team is playing so well now and the new coach etc. But the media in Orlando really went after him. Jim Phillips of the Phillips Phile on 104.1 was really mean and went after DeVos but not for the right reasons. His was political . That was the point I made to someone else. You can't see the fan support by going to downtown disney. Locals don't eat at downtown disney .

No...you guys don't. You have give me all kinds of crap for the lack of support for the Marlins...and that statement has clearly explained it. This state, especially in south Florida has approx. 60% of the residents were not born here. They bring their alliances with them...and sometimes NEVER root for the team they currently live in.

I am a perfect example of both. There is NO WAY I will root for the Dolphins, because I am a Raiders fan that has never lived in Oakland....and I will not go to the stadium to support them....not my team. But I have come to really enjoy and really root for both the Marlins and HEAT...and I have been here WAY before the Championship years. It's a crap shoot with the support you might or might not get down here because of all of the people that move in and out of the area....like the Orlando area.

I think this is the general perception most of the country has for sports fans in the state of Florida.

Please, Devos who made his money with a pyramid scheme, has only recently started pumping any money into the team. And that was only because he wanted the tax payers to pay for a new arena, And thats hard to get done when the team sucks. The magic are over the salary cap for the first time in lord knows when.

A Arena the tax payers are by far paying the brunt of, and Devos will by far benefit the most from. Billionaire handout.

And I love Jim, he gets over the line sometimes and does not completely understand callers then hangs up on them, but its still funny.

That's why we don't have the excitement here. I live in a very nice neighborhood with people who have plenty of money to spend on games but they don't go. They don't care. My wife was a huge fan and always went down to the games back in the 1990's. She couldn't even name one player on the team today.

Devos is no different then other owners of other teams. They all want tax breaks. Look at the owners of the Boston Red Sox. It happens all the time.

Here in the Washington, DC metro area, about 75% of the adults were born and raised elsewhere, yet the Redskins have one of those infinite ticket waiting lists. There are also more sportsbars catering to the New England Patriots here than there were in New England prior to the Tom Brady era.

Enough with the Mickey Mouse talk. We've got a game to prepare for tonight...

In regards to the Cavs vs. Celtics Game 5, this is as huge of a game for Cleveland that I can ever remember. Yes, it's tied at 2 games a piece and yes we still have homecourt, but to lose tonight and to head back to Boston for a series-deciding game is the last thing we would want.

Championship dreams are still out there. We need to keep them alive. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Depending on the outcome, Cleveland sports nation is likely to range from unbounded wrath to giddy jubilation. Our sanity hangs in the balance.

My current set of emotions are more nervousness than excitement. Hurry up 8pm!

Keys to the outcome of this pivotal game:

1. Rondo- the Cavs have had trouble containing him. They have to hold him down.

2. Supporting Cast- Which one steps up?

3. Three-point shots- both teams have guys that can hit from downtown- who makes the most of these shots?

Celtics CAN NOT win tonight without Paul Pierce contributing!

The Celtics have the ineptitude of Isiah Thomas to thank for the Knicks not selecting Rajon Rondo with the 20th overall selection of the 2006 draft. Danny Ainge had a deal worked out with Phoenix for their 21st overall pick, and of course Isiah passed on Rajon Rondo for the immortal schlep, Renaldo Balkman.

Yet another in the very long line of brutal decisions by the Chicago chump.

You just can't make this Isiah stuff up.

I knew I liked that chump, err man for something!! :D

Word out of Cleveland is that LeBron is going to be used on-and-off to guard Rondo. Most likely during crunch time. When he's not on him, we'll throw Anthony Parker and Delonte West at him.
