2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

this Anaheim-San Jose series that's about to commence, is the first all-California NHL Playoffs series since 1969, when the LA Kings faced the California Golden Seals. :up

The ironic part is that these teams could have met the past three years.

2006 and 2007- Ducks made the Conference Finals while San Jose won at least two of the first three games in their second-round series before losing.

Last year- had the Ducks beaten Dallas in round 1, they would have faced San Jose.

You could say it's a matchup three years in the making.

Wow, didn't realize that.

I hope the Ducks win the series ... for my own selfish reasons ...
Wings will play one of them and I hate staying up till 2am on game/work nights.
One west coast series is bad enough, at least one of the two will be gone, that only leaves Vancouver and Calgary ... Go BlackHawks and whoever Vancouver is playing St.Louis ?

To answer Bill's post about quick OT goals, the fastest one was by Brian Skrudland- 9 seconds.

Thanks, nice find! :up

Nine seconds seems like it would be virtually impossible! It must have been a fluke goal (bad bounce, etc).

Anaheim gets outshot by a 2-1 margin (35-17)... and wins 2-0.

As much as I want to say that the Ducks were somewhat fortunate- I won't.

Besides, I don't want to sound like I'm raining on KCK's parade.

Getting out shot like that in the playoffs is not unusual, and the one with the less shots winning is also not unusual.

Look at Wings playoffs in the past 15 years.
