What a game last night! I'm glad we won, but the ref's were doing everything possible to make sure we didn't. Two 3 on 5's in one game? And against the Wings? The Duck's must of pulled every play out of the "book of thuggery", and they were getting away with it all. To the Wing's credit, they didn't take the bait, preferring to beat them with pucks in the back of the net.

Bring on the Black Hawks. We have a lot of bad blood with Avalanche, absolutely no love for the Duck's. But before all of that comes our longest and biggest rivalry - the Black Hawks. Nothing rivals how much we detest that team. That being said, this should be a good series, these two teams are very similar, both have tons of speed. Experience will prove to be the difference. This season finished 4-2, in the Wing's favor. I see nothing here to change that from repeating itself.

GO RED WINGS!!!

2 of those wins were the first two games in shoot out wins. the last two losses of the season were the back to back games to end the season..Niether team, well at least the Wings had anything to play for and alot of starters sat..

I personally think the Hawks get slaughtered in this series. 4-0 or 4-1 is my call. They are young and fast, but I think no match for the wings.

I was trying to be nice to the Chicago fans here. Sweeps are hard at this stage of the game. Funny things happen, pucks take strange bounces, and the ref's have been killing us throughout the playoffs. 4-1 wouldn't surprise me.

It was a tough early evening/night at Foxwoods casino:

* Red Sox lost in extra innings to the Angels :(

* Celtics blew a 14 point second half lead and now must play yet another Game 7 (their fourth in the last two years) :(:(

* Bruins lost in OT and got eliminated from Stanley Cup competition :(:(:(

Bad night, right? WRONG!

Why? Because BILL won!!! :D:D:D:D:D

To be fair, the refs were terrible in this series with plenty of bad calls, and no calls, both ways; they were permitting blatant penalties (Pronger had a few doozies), yet they were calling the most obvious flops and touch nonsense. Hopefully the officiating crew will get a much needed rest after this series (i.e. Summer Vacation).

The Avs matchup used to be a good one, but the Wings beat them so badly the past 2 playoff series I was beginning to feel sorry for their team. The Ducks have certainly been the biggest thorn in our side in recent memory - they are a big, physical, hard-hitting team...and have won more games at The Joe then I care to remember. As for the Blackhawks...there was some rivalry...oh, say back in the 60's when Gordie Howe and Stan Mikita were still playing. They are a good young team so there is always hope for a budding rivalry, but I see nothing yet to prevent the Wings from winning this series in 4 or perhaps 5. We shall see...

* Sunday, May 31 at Carolina, 7:30 p.m. VERSUS, CBC, RDS
* Tuesday, June 2 at Pittsburgh, 7:30 p.m. VERSUS, CBC, RDS

Springsteen is in concert here Tuesday, I wounder if he is the reason they have to wait two days between game 1 and 2.

Edit...Green Day is here on the Saturday, Andre Rieu is here on Sunday(I have no idea who he is) and Bruce on Tuesday. There is nothing going on Wednesday, they should have game 2 then.

I 'm not sure my little heart can take another month of playoff games like last night ...but don't get me wrong....I am very happy!
Anyway, yes the Ref's on this last series should be sent to another country...how about Siberia.....

You must have been in a zone- ala Ray Allen's 51-point game or Eddie House in game 2 against Orlando.

As long as we're using sports metaphors, I started out last night like Big Papi did yesterday..........0 for 7 with 12 men LOB!

I picked Boston and Washington going into the playoffs, but more recently I picked Carolina to upset Boston. I think most people overlooked both Eastern Conference Final teams, but Pittsburgh was the conference champion last year, and Carolina won the Cup in 2006 and won the conference championship in 2002. A lot of these series could have gone either way.

Anyway, if Detroit can take care of business with Chicago they will face a rematch with their 2002 or 2008 Stanley Cup Finals opponent.

Had Washington won ... Detroit (provided they go on to win the Conference) would have played a team they played before in a Cup finals, the only one in the group that they haven't played was Boston.

No need to be nice, Detroit fans need to face the fact that they are about to get steam rolled by Chicago.... Seriously, I'm predicting Chicago wins the series in 6. They have no idea what its like to have a dustin bufflin.
