2009 MLB Playoffs

Did you guys see the graphic they showed during the game of CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee in Indians uniforms? It said at least you've still got Lebron, and Joe Buck said clock's ticking on that. :haha It'll be funny when Lebron is playing for the Knicks next year and the only thing that Cleveland gets in return from NY is Eric Mangini. :haha

That ain't happening.

The Knicks are a mess of a team; LeBron wouldn't touch them with a 10-foot pole.

The guy has had a very good playoff so far and has a bad game so far and your all over him .....

(From an impartial observer)

no, I"m just interested in two ways:

1) I hope he continues to slump so it helps the Phillies win, and

2) some analysts over the past couple of days have wondered now that he's reached the WS level, if he'll show up like he has in the ALDS/ALCS or if he'll return to his traditional October ways of being a non-factor in a playoff series

IC,
I thought you might be one of the A-Rod haters, but I see that wasn't you objective here.

Although I'm NOT a yankee fan at all, I've watched A-Rod (BEFORE the gave out stupid nicknames) since he came up and liked most of what I've seen

Instead of the bash fest, let's give respect where respect is due.

Cliff Lee had one of the best pitching performances in World Series History! Lee's complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts and 0 walks probably ranks 2nd to Don Larsen's perfect game among World Series performances. Wow.

Masterful performance by Lee. What could have been.....what could have been.....

I'm looking forward to watching Pedro pitch in Yankee Stadium tonight.

Game 1 thoughts...

1. Wow, if everyone pitches like Cliff Lee did last night, the Yankees are in trouble. I'll believe that when I see it, though, from Pedro Martinez, Cole Hamels and Dain Blanton.

2. I don't see why Girardi goes with Marte instead of Coke in big spots. It worked last night, but it hasn't been working in the playoffs up until now.

3. As much as Buck and McCarver marveled over how Lee caught that pop up, did anyone notice it almost popped out of his glove? Charlie Manuel would not have been chuckling at that point.

4. Hopefully the Phillies will eventually do what the Twins and Angels did...turn into the Mets, on the basepaths and in the field. The Kazmir throw to first base was priceless. Someone needs to put circus music in the background of highlights of the Angels turning normal baseball plays into a clown show.

5. Looks like barring rainouts the Phillies will have to either pitch Lee only twice, or pitch him on three days rest...twice. You have to wonder if Lee will be as effective on three days rest...twice.

6. Still looking forward to seeing Brad Lidge on the mound in a big spot. The rest of the Phillie bullpen too. Let's see if everyone can pitch a complete game.

7. At least there is no Tim McClelland. Still cannot get over him calling Cano safe at third base.

8. Thinking about Joe Girardi managing a National League game in Philly is making me cringe.

9. I think I would put Brett Gardner in center, move Melky to right, and sit Swisher. It's just not working for him right now. The mohawk is not helping. Cliff Lee shut down the whole team, but everyone has been shutting down Swisher.

10. Jayson Werth is very cute.

While I'm on a roll...

11. Ratings in New York Sunday night for the Yankees/Angels were triple the ratings for the Giants/Cardinals. Triple. That just doesn't happen to the NFL. If the Phillies were playing Monday night, up against the Eagles on Monday Night Football, ratings for the Phillies would barely register on the radar. Philly is a football city, plain and simple. New York is a baseball city until the last NY team packs it in. Then we move on to football. Triple!!!

12. So nice to see the NBA back. Very funny to see a team lose one game, though, and hear someone say the team is done. Only on an internet forum do you hear such gems of wisdom...

13. Who is this Marquis Daniels kid from the Celtics? Nice little sparkplug.

14. Losing 3-1 to the Stinklanders last night. Ouch. No Marian Gaborik, the man made of glass is out already, but still a very bad loss.

15. I was Elvira Saturday night. Two hours putting makeup on, and two more hours getting myself into the dress. Oh my goodness it was way too small up top. I was so afraid I was going to pop out and knock a drink off the table or something. Very uncomfortable. My boyfriend will pay for that...;)

16. Did anyone see the segment on NFL Films Presents last night about strength coaches on the sidelines always being near the head coach so they can get on camera? Hysterical. They showed one guy who has traveled the league and is in Cincinnati now. They showed how many times he got on camera over the years with different teams, and he did a visual where he showed his philosophy in getting into the shot. It was so funny.

17. Please no Friday Night Lights spoilers outside the FNL thread. I won't be able to get to them for a while, but I recorded them and do plan to watch them.

18. Saints/Falcons should be a good one.

19. Rex Ryan is really starting to annoy me. His defense is talking crap again...hey Bart Scott, you just beat the Raiders!!! You've done nothing, and your defense has been pushed around the field by some of the league's lesser lights. Newsflash...This is New York. Do something before you say something. There is a reason Jeremy Shockey never won the Super Bowl here.

20. Wow, how right was I about the Giants? Just saying...

That's highly debatable, especially if (God forbid) you disagree with him.

I can understand why a Met or Red Sox fan doesn't like him, as he gives the Yankee perspective. But please don't take anything from what Carton or Boomer says. Carton is just doing clown shtick, and Boomer only knows the Mets and the Rangers.

That catch was vintage Cliff Lee. I'm glad the rest of the world got to see his cocky, arrogant self. He is a tough person to root for. What a showoff!

With the middle of the infield being covered by Rollins and Utley, I highly doubt that.

You're right. Swisher has been absent, (mind, body & soul) this postseason.

10. Jayson Werth is very cute.

Best player in the NL no one talks about, that's for sure.

Speaking of the Philadelphia & New York Football and Baseball worlds colliding, Sunday will be a fun day for those fans. At 1pm, the Eagles host the Giants. At 8pm, the Phils host Game 3.

There are multiple members who've already lost all credibility as far as I'm concerned. It's a shame the more educated opinions and discussion is often muddied by all the rabble rouser's.

Agreed. I haven't watched last nights episode either. It's sitting on the DVR. I also have to catch up on some past episodes of Top Chef on Bravo. Very good show IMO.

In the Jets defense, their defense has been ravaged with injuries.

Boomer and Carton are Met fans trying to do a morning laugh show. Listen at 1PM if you want real baseball perspective. ;)

That's better.... ;)

Utley already had a couple of 'clown-music' throwing errors against the Dodgers. Not even close to first base...one went into the stands. Almost seemed like a case of the 'Yips'.

Here's hoping it happens again. ;)

8. Thinking about Joe Girardi managing a National League game in Philly is making me cringe.

Uhh, he did a pretty good job when he managed the Marlins a few years ago. He should have still been there in my opinion.

9. I think I would put Brett Gardner in center, move Melky to right, and sit Swisher. It's just not working for him right now. The mohawk is not helping. Cliff Lee shut down the whole team, but everyone has been shutting down Swisher.

Yeah, he can't hit a beach ball right now.

I would love to see pictures of that. :D

What about Eric Hinske in right?? He's got some pop from the left side, but he hasn't played in a while....

Is Molina going to catch Burnett??
