2009 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament

The game Monday will be much closer that the 35 point beat down from December. But I think we will win.

You just had to bring that up didn't you. Don't forget that the game back in December was also played at Ford Field.

My heart says MSU wins it all but my money is on UNC.

MSU might take this one if they can keep up with Carolina.

Ellington & crew have been shooting 3 pointers very well this year.

The champagne is on ice the scissors are sharp. We're ready! One more win to go.

So much for the vaunted Big East. Both their teams folded like tents tonight. If Michigan St wants another beatdown we'll give it.

The Big East was still the best conference in the nation this season. While NC was beating on the ACC cream-puffs, those teams engaged in a 2 1/2 month war called their conference schedule and conference tournament. Then Louisville and UCONN had to play another team that would have been right at home in their conference - MSU.

Here's the secret to MSU. They wear you down with their constant pressure on both sides of the ball, and their ATHLETICISM! If you know more athletic guys at the "Y" on a Saturday morning, Then you better call Roy Williams and alert him to this missed recruiting springwell.

That 35 point beatdown you gave us in December means nothing right now. We played without 3 starters that day. I don't know who will win Monday, but I will guarantee a war. You guys better shoot better than .403 if you want to win Monday. This MSU team is not the same team you played in front 35,000 in December.

And yes, this will be a home game for us. You will never see so much green and white again in your lifetime. 72,000 people will be there, 60,000 in green and white, and they are LOUD!

IF, the tar heels win, (What is a tar heel anyhow? What is your logo? A shoe with something gooey stuck on it?:D), your boys will be talking about how physically beat-up they feel.

This will be a great game.:)

Actually I expect a great game. Michigan St is playing great. They scored 80 points on UConn. No one else from the Big Ten could do that, even if you gave them 6 OT's. :D And playing in Ford Field will make for an electric atmosphere. But this is about destiny. Tyler Hansbrough's final college game as well as a bunch of other Tar Heels. We're not losing. It may come down to the last shot, but we're not losing.

Trivia: Carolina is 4-0 all time against Michigan St in the NCAA Tournament. The last 2 times UNC won the NC the runner up was from the Big Ten. As they say in Hockeytown why not go for the hat trick?

In December, Suton was out, Morgan had Mono which led to Walking Phnuemonia(sp?) and Roe was also hurt, this is a much different team, while nothing has changed the tarheels..

They are as beatable as UConn, swhould be fun!!

Anders, you should be here! Never seen anything like this. I couldn't tell you how much I can't wait till Monday! you do know that no "home team" has ever lost the championship. Win or lose, I'm sure it will be a fantastic game.

It's going to be a long couple of days. This could be a 3 heartattack game for me. :D Good thing Carolina is a good road team. 4 straight wins at dook, and when we won the NC in 2005 practically at the fans in St. Louis were Illinois fans.

That's all true in regards to MSU. But Tyler wasn't 100% in that game as he still was recovering from his early season shin problems that caused him to miss 4 games early. Plus Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson are playing much better now than they were earlier in the season. Especially Ellington who was in bad shooting slump until about half way through January.

Both teams are better now than in December. Carolina's defense is much better now than it has been earlier in the year.

No way will this be another 35 point blowout but I still think UNC wins.

I really hope that the 35 point blowout will hurt UNC this time. They could be very under estimating MSU and that can come back to hurt them.

Dook played in the championship game in Charlotte, NC in 94 and lost to Arkansas. Dook certainly was the "home team" there and lost.

I was going on something they showed on the big screen at the game last night. The NCAA's statement was obviously in error. They showed a list of 8-9 teams. This was the NCAA's stat that I was quoting. My apologies, but I still like MSU's chances.

Did anyone else notice the empty seats during the second game last night?? The NCAA must be very thankful that a "local" team made it to the FF. It may have been hard to sell out 72k seats otherwise...

Go MSU!!

They were empty because they previously filled with "Green and White". Those MSU fans really party hard. Downtown was packed with them. Lines at every restaurant and bar in the whole downtown. It took us an hour to get home and I live 3 miles from Ford Field.

For MSU's sake I hope they got over being in awe of Tyler while in his presence.

:D ;)

This was from the tournament 2 years ago in Winston Salem during a practice changeover. FTR, Carolina beat MSU in that 2nd round game 81-67.
