2009 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament

Given how Louisville throttled Arizona (thank goodness- this ensures the Midwest Final will be a fair fight between Louisville and the winner of Spartans/Jayhawks), two thoughts:

1. Did Arizona luck out by not having to play Wake Forest last week? I have to say yes. The Deacons may have done what Zona did not- bother showing up to the game. I put more effort into making my sandwich at lunchtime than the Cats did!

2. Memo to all teams striving to make the Sweet 16: pray your opponent is not coached by Rick Pitino

His teams are a perfect 9-0 in the regional semifinal (including tonight)

Here are the margins of victory: 10, 34, 24, 31, 15, 14, 19, and including tonight- 39. An average winning margin of 20.6!

This must be great for Louisville fans- not only do they win by a colossal margin, but arch-rival Kentucky is going through a coach crisis.

I think in the long run, Louisville got the better of "Pitino goes to rival school."

P.S. Pitino has now coached at Louisville just as long time as he did at Kentucky (eight seasons)

How could get into any of these games? They ended before they started. As a matter of fact, the sweet 16 has been lousy with the exception of Pittsburgh/Xavier.

These games are terrible unless you're a Louisville or Oklahoma fan.

I'll say this much: If UNC wins like I expect they will, this is shaping up to be a GREAT Elite Eight weekend (regardless who wins the Kansas-Michigan St game)! :up

UConn vs. Missouri
Pitt vs. Villanova
UNC vs. Oklahoma
Louisville vs. Kansas or Michigan St.

WOW!!!

That was a GREAT win by Louisville- after they struggled against Siena, I was a tad nervous about their game with 'Zona.

Given how underdog teams have fared in recent tournaments, I felt a bit nervous before the game.

All the talk has been about the Big East (and rightfully so), but don't look now, the Big 12 could have 3 teams in the Elite Eight if Kansas wins tonight.

I know Syracuse looked bad against the Sooners, but I give them credit for making it this far.

They overachieved this season; they exceeded some expectations (after first-round flameouts in 2005 and 2006, they got to the Sweet 16).

Devendorf is only a freshman; this team WILL get better.

I think UNC got mad that a lot of media "experts" were picking Gonzaga to beat them. It became a trendy pick. Instead UNC stomps a mudhole in their butts. Satisfying....
98-77. That's how we roll. :D Blake Griffin meet Tyler Hansbrough. Psycho T's gonna send Griffin straight to the NBA.
