Congrats, Bill.
We're gonna meet down the line and I look forward to some good, solid, professional competition.
Thanks KCK,
that's right the Red Sox and Angels............the two best teams of THIS decade will meet next week at the Big A.
Now that the Sox have finally wrapped up a playoff berth, I have a question for you KCK:
There's been a lot of discussion on sports radio and various Internet message boards about which ALDS schedule the Angels (they'll have the choice because of having the best record in the AL) will choose:
ALDS (A): Wed/Fri @ LA, Sun/Mon @ Boston, Wed @ LA
OR
ALDS (B): Thur/Fri @ LA, Sun/Mon @ Boston, Wed @ LA
As you can see, the only difference between A and B is an extra day off in series "A".
The Red Sox had this option against the Angels last year and chose the extra day off (allowing Beckett and Schilling to pitch two games EACH if the series went five games).
The speculation here in Boston (at least the majority that I've heard) is that the Angels will choose the "B" option. Why? Because the back end of the Angels rotation (Weaver/Garland) is stronger than the Red Sox (Wakefield/Byrd). I personally agree from the Angels perspective that would be the right move. The thought is Beckett/Lester/Matsuzaka vs. Lackey/Saunders/Santana cancels each other out, and the Angels would have a distinct advantage in a battle of the #4 starters in the all important game 4.
I apologize for this long-winded question
, but what is the word in Angel land on this?
