2008 MLB Playoffs

THAT is why I chose the Phillies- they can kill you with so many weapons- the Dodgers have one big bopper- the Phillies have five.

I agree that the Phillies have more guys to beat you, but Ethier, Loney, and Kemp aren't too bad for the Dodgers.

IMO, the biggest difference between these teams is their pitching staffs.

The Dodgers do not have an LCS-caliber pitching staff.

Bill, if Boston rallies in the ALCS, how would they match up against Philly?

They've played the Phillies pretty well over the years in interleague play, but you never know in the postseason.

I will say this: whoever wins the AL would have to be considered the favorite (and not just because of homefield advantage).

TUESDAY'S ALCS PITCHING MATCHUP

GAME 4

Rays (Andy Sonnanstine) at Red Sox (Tim Wakefield).............8:07pm ET..................TBS/TBS-HD

I thought the Phillies played in a band box. What's with all the home runs in LA and Boston?

Well, the Phillies don't really play in a bandbox. I mean, CBP does inflate HRs a bit, but it's only a mild hitter's park. In fact, it's played perfectly neutral in 2008.

It has a rep for allowing HRs easy, but that's less true since they moved back the LF wall. Also, it's interesting to point out that Manny's double in the first inning of game 1 of this series would have been a HR is virtually any other ballbark but this "bandbox" kept it in the yard.

I liked the others much better, never have liked McCarver either

Joe and Tony were great back in the day.
I like Joe Morgan and (da** I can never remember the other guy)

I caught a little bit of Vin Scully tonight on the Dodgers' network on XM.
Vin and Ernie Harwell will always be right up there in my book.

Jimbo

Jimbo,

That would be Jon Miller who is the radio voice of the SF Giants.

BTW, Joe and Jon are calling the ALCS and the WS on ESPN Radio for those of you who are not liking the TBS booth arrangement. ;)

Thanks for getting my point. It seems that almost everybody hates Philadelphia sports. granted they have some obnoxious fans, but they are rarely a threat to win any championships. One world series, zero super bowls, and only a couple NBA championships if you call that a sport. (just kidding). Only two Stanley cups. Come on give us Philly fans a break. By the way you notice I am in North Carolina, not Philly.

Who's the biggest NFL disappointment so far this season?

Best World Series of all-time?
