You guys have any experience or opinions on this setup?

I have a HR-22 and standard receiver now. I am looking to get a new 3rd receiver and also get the Whole Home DVR setup in my house.

Thinking of getting a HR-24 for my basement (as my new 3rd receiver in the house) and swapping out the standard receiver with an H24.

Any benefits of having a setup like this? i.e 2 HD DVR's in the house? I was thinking of getting 2 HD receivers but seems like DTV is offering me a deal with a new HD DVR for just $99 (atleast on the website .. says special offer for valued customers) so essentially it just works out to be a free HD DVR for the price of a HD receiver.

What do you guys think?

That is the kind of setup that I have. I have two HR24 receivers with MVR activated. I did not want just another HD receiver because I wanted to be able to record from four tuners at one time. This way I can watch what is on the DVR in my office in my den and vice versa.

Yep same here.. I have two HR24's and two H24's with MRV. It works great, but here's the breakdown..

You can start or schedule a recording on either DVR from any of the non-DVR boxes.
You can NOT start or schedule a recording on one DVR from the other DVR.
You can watch anything recorded on either DVR from ANY HD box (including the other DVR).
You can NOT initiate On Demand downloads from the NON-DVR boxes
You can watch On Demand that has been recorded on either DVR from ANY HD box

My wish feature is that when more than one DVR is present on the network, their schedulers can work together to avoid conflicts.

I would like that option as well. I have read where some do not want collabortive scheduling, but I think it is a good idea to give us the option.

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would think it's a bad idea. If you have two timers go off on the same DVR, it would make much more sense to check what the other DVR is doing, and if it's set to be idle for at least the duration of a timer in question, it should offload the timer to the idle DVR rather than force a channel change on the conflicting one. Same goes for a three way conflict on one DVR. It should offload one of the timers to the other DVR rather than cancel the lowest priority timer.

Separate local HD channels missing

Why no WWE 24/7 on VoD?
