I currently have a 522 with a dish 500-I believe- I am attempting to upgrade to HDTV with a 722 receiver. The first installer could not install a second dish to point to 61.5 because of trees. I talked with customer service to make sure I would not be charged with the upgrade and she informed me that they can attempt to point to the 129, but in Connecticut it may have a weaker signal. The Second installer who came out had no idea that they could point to the 129. The third installer who came out said that the dish does not point to 129 in Connecticut. I have read that others have done it with out a problem. Just a few Questions
· Is pointing to 129 wise to do?
· What dish is better 1000 or 1000.2
· With the upcoming launch of other satellites would I be better waiting?
· Where can I find an installer who would be willing install a dish to point to 129?
· Is there an extra cost?

Thanks in advance for any help given

did you comfirm with other 2 installer about no line of sight for 61.5. cause 61.5 is around 40 degree on the elevation ?.

if you are gone go with 129. u should use just 1 dish 500 for 119. and 110. and use the 2nd dish for 129

The problem with 129 in Connecticut is that it is so close to the horizon that almost anything on the horizon will block it.

129 is at 245 degrees azimuth from you and elevation 16 degrees.

So if you have a good clear view of the horizon in the WSW it might work.

yes all three said the trees are in the line of site.
Would the second dish also be a 500?

For the most part, we work off this map for coverage or not... http://ekb.dbstalk.com/pictures/Dish1000Exclusions.jpg

However, 148 has been done as far east in parts of PA/OH and 61.5 as far west East L.A., so every dish is hittible as long as you have LOS and a large enough dish...

If you cant get 61.5, you may as well get a Dish 1000+ installed, that is how I see it...

Also, don't forget that if we ever get our HD LiLs and more HD RSNs (i.e NESN ;)), then you'll probably be SOL with those using 129....

Yeah, the key word is "if". I say go for the 129 if you can and worry about the LiLs and NESN later. I don't see either of those going live anytime soon. But I could be wron(wishful thinking):D

I guess i just have to get my landlord to cut some trees down

Since all the installers that E* sent out, could not or would not do it. Where can I find an installer who would? The last (not a sub- contractor) installer who came out said they do not even carry the equipment for a 129 install.

there is no special equipment for 129. its just dish 500 with dp dual. just like 61.5
