06/07 Stanley Cup Champs?

Yeah, I gotta say, the Wings just look like a hardened team. the come from behind wins gave them alot of confidence and with the lead, they always play well.
Both conference finals should be really good (at least I hope so).

I am picking Det vs Buf for the cup. Det in 6, with 2 OT games in the series.

At least if Anihiem does NOT make it, we can be assured that all games will be played at hours that we can all see them.

Paul, I've been a wings fan, but I the last two seasons dang it left a bad taste during playoff time. My heart was saying wings all the way after watching them this year. Goals they scored showed they wanted it, goals they would not have scored in the previous years just due to lack of desire.

My head however this year has been saying "Prove me wrong guys, show me you are not just the product of a weaker division"

Amen, brother. Actually I felt the same way you did ay the onset of the Cup. I became convinced half way through the Calgary series.

GO WINGS!

Red Wings play a solid game and lead Anehiem 1-0 in the series.
Wings win 2-1.

Hasek was great , it was a good exciting game, good hitting good PP and PK.

Zeterberg and Lindstom scoed for Detroit.

Kunitz scored for Anehiem.

Detroit vs Anaheim will be a good and close series. The Wings are getting all the breaks lately, but I've always believed the better team makes it own breaks. I like the Wings mental and physical toughness this year and feel they have what it takes to bring home the cup!

Ottawa looked awesome Thursday night.

Special emphasis on the PK, Jimbo. It felt like we played most of the game a man short. The five-on-three early in the game was a big moment. Is just me, or does Kaharski have it in for the Wings? Agreat start to this series, and 4 in a row for my Wings!

Man, it's good to see the wings win one the way their opponents always seem to in the playoffs lately! A win is a win and eventhough they called it "ugly", the way they played on the PK most of the game and then scrapped it out, it's good to see.

What is with Kaharski? it does seem like he is slightly biased against the wings. If you watched the couple post game shows, even the commentators were lamenting the calls made. I am not saying cause I am a wings fan, I am saying cause there were some horrible calls made. There were even a few bad calls against the ducks. It really messed with the flow of the game

Hasek was simply classic Hasek. I didn't like the resigning of him in the beginning of the season. I still feel the wings royally screwed Cujo with the Hasek situation a couple years back, but that is another topic. Wings played Hasek smart this year, didn't burn him out and Osgood is a very servicable backup. Now the gamble the wings played is paying dividends. I think Hasek personally feels he has a lot to prove from the last few years performances.

Should be interesting,if the Wings get past Anehiem, Hasek goes up against the team he came to the NHL with (Buffalo) or Ottawa, the team that decided that they did not want him any longer.
So He has incentive either way.

Actually, Hasek was brought to the NHL by the blackhawks, but had the bad luck of being on a team with a then in his prime Belfour. But yes, it was the Sabres who gave him the chance to prove himself.

Yes you are correct !!!!
I forgot about the Blackhawks, until you said that and then I remembered that.....
Thanks for the correction !

The only reason I remember hasek on the blackhawks was I saw a game with him playing. He stuck out in my head as very "wild" in the net. He didn't look like he was in control, but yet he did ok.

This crap with Kaharski and the Wings has been going on for a long time. He's the only ref in the NHL I know by name, and it's because he is always making bad calls against the Wings.

Oh man, McGoo!

Paul, yeah I think anyone who watches the wings regularly sees the calls Kaharski makes and after a while is hard not to think there is some bias there. Although, I have to say there are times (I can't remember the refs) that the wings can do no wrong either while the other team gets called for even looking sternly at a wings player.

In the playoffs though it is really magnified.

I agree with this, I have seen calls that would not have been called in the regular season as well.
Mainly the hooking calls (both teams) to me a hook is when you take a guy down, or a trip I guess. Normally a tug once is acceptable as long as they let up after the initial tug, but these guys are calling it on the initial tug and thats rediculis.

Boy are the announcers for VS biased .........
According to them they can't step on the ice without being wrong.

The Wings are 1 shot away from being tied, not 5 .....

Anehiem's 3rd goal should NOT be a goal, that call was pure BS.
The whistle blows when the ref looses sight of the puck and no one knew where it was until it came out of Haseks pad, therefore the whistle should have blown long before Hasek slid (was pushed) into the net.

sad if they end up losing this game because of it.

Well the ESPN headlines the other day said that the Ducks gave the Wings the game one win.
Tommorows headline can say "Piss poor officiating gave Ducks win in game 2"

Theere is NO way that the 3rd goal was a goal, no one could locate the puck. it was in Haseks pads and Hasek was pushed into the goal, but they decided it was a goal anyway  :down  !protest :what

The NHL should look at that one ... During the season they go to Toronto for reviews, but not in the playoffs.

I didn't see much of them game, but I would agree the 3rd goal shouldn't have been counted. Why do the officials have whistles if they don't mean anything?

Anyway, this is shaping to be a very, very tight series. I predict the winner will also take home the Cup!

What do you think is going to happen next on Cubs land?

Yankees tied for last place in the EAST!!
