Wonder why rates increase here is one reason.

As a tech, there are truly customers out there that cannot troubleshoot. They usually are elderly, handicapped mentally or physically, or just can't follow instructions verbally. I went to a trouble call yesterday, guys water heater broke so he screwed with the diplexer and swapped the lines...

    Newbie to headend systems.

You can put up dish pro singles. Split the lines before the switch and have a set of 3 switches cascaded and a set of 2 cascaded. Just make sure it's split before the 44 switches and they go to the same port on the sets of switches. You will need power inserters on all 5 switchss. Posted Via...

Preparing for Dish install in new home - Wiring Questions

That would be close to impossible. As stated earlier stacked closets could work. Is the basement finished? If so that makes it even worse. Cosmetically the best id offer without charging would be dish on roof. Run the cable behind a downspout, if its a single hopper job id run 3 lines. 2 for the...

    Dish wall mount

How big of a tv? I have a 38" mounted on a full motion mount. With just two lags into a stud, that's it.

    Satellite Signal Strength

Signal strengths used to be based on a scale to 125. Not anymore. From what I can tell you signals don't look bad to me.

Installing Joeys using Cat 5 instead of Coax

Smart home dish techs do carry cat 5 on their vans as well as being trained to terminate cat5. Personally one of my managers has a Joey connected with cat6 and he says it runs better then the other joeys. It's unsupported because it's to much of an outside risk. Customers router fries, now the...

What is max Joeys to 1 Hopper?

I thought I heard in training that you could possibly have 4 or 5 linked. Not supported by dish though would have to buy joeys.

    Node laying on ground

Looks good. Technically, well at least in my area putting a ground block or node in a crawl space is a mark off on a quality inspection. Doesn't make sense to me, but that being said looks like good work would've done the same. Glad your dish got concrete put in, that's a definite problem...

    Node laying on ground

If I were the tech out their, I'd change a couple fittings. Run a new line to hopper, tack the node and splitter into the wood. Cable itself doesn't really need tacked all the way there up in the wood. I'd cut that extra crap out as well if requested.

Try antenna channel 22. Seems to have the best picture due to lowest frequency.

can an EA dish be mounted on a pole that currently has a DirecTv slimline on it?

Most cases throw a new pole down the center of the old pole, throw a couple pinch bolts in and be good. The real question is how many lines are trenched.

Come on DISH! Help me out.

If I were the tech on the call i would eliminate the switch. Throw up a 1000.2, and use the three sat feeds. No need for a switch unless you have 4 boxes. If you don't it's just something else in the line that could fail.

Red MoCA Icons On the Joeys?

Could be a bad node, i had this issue on my own system and I'm a tech. I replaced cable to the hopper since i used the old cable being lazy since it was my own house figured I'd just run new if I had problems. After replacing the node I had green moca, until the hic became active. The hic itself...

    Signal Loss on tuner 3

Everytime I've seen loss of tuner 3 on a single hopper system, it's been the node. You should be able to get the connector onto the node completely tightened until it needs wrench tightened. Cross threading of those connectors can cause that tuner 3 loss. Plus, with that cable, it would need...

    Cancelling Dish

They will not. Usually they just ask for receivers and remotes, and if accessible the lnbf( eyeball of dish). If your switching one thing to keep in mind is that usually mast size is different between the providers, all really depends on which dish you have. So be prepared to have another dish...

    How long with Dish?

Well if one of the hopper locations was on a first floor, then you could just one one line to that hopper, the other line can go to the pre-existing line and use a tap to go to the remaining rooms.

    How long with Dish?

Wait a second here, how many hoppers or joeys are you looking to get? If only one hopper then your setup is just fine , put the node outside, use the one available line ran inside, to a tap, to a splitter and hopper. I always try to talk customers into hopper Joey systems in those scenarios.

Hopper w/Sling - Joey installation problem! Please help!!!!!!

Unplug the hopper for 15 seconds from the power source. Let the hopper fully reset then try starting the Joey back up and get it to download. The red discovering on the top of the download means it didn't find the hopper. That alone should have been evidence to them theirs an issue, and to not...

Hopper w/Sling - Joey installation problem! Please help!!!!!!

Had a problem the other day with joeys not downloading, despite the fact of everything being new cable and parts. Hard reset on the hopper and Joey downloaded just fine. Have they replaced the node? How about trying the Joey line off a tap instead of the client port.

8 tv's in one house - how do I get the best dish experience?

Yes the joeys would be linked to a specific hopper, you can change which hopper your linked to from the Joey location, but you can access each hoppers dvr from any Joey. It's really an awesome system.

    Thanks guys! :)

At the same time with no usable coax jacks to the inside then the node would need to go inside. You can't run a hopper line with a flat cable in it, it's not rated to 3ghz and will cause problems. The solution to this to two flat cables and putting the node inside. That's why I hate apartment...

Using Regular RG-6 Cables for Hopper?

It may work, but that's the same as saying sometimes rg59 will run VIP receivers. A lot of times everything will work on initial installation, then maybe a week down the line or maybe 3 months later the cable will go bad, and once it does it's unusable. As an installer if it's easily accessible...

    HIC Setup

I would try to put the router either close to the hopper which would eliminate the need for a hic. If that's not possible then either try to put it in the room with the Joey or the easiest spot for a tech to run a cable to.
