Ah for the heck of it I logged into DirecTV's web site to see if there was any way to get them to come out and fix this stuff for free if I did the usual renewal for 2 year gig with them. Without having to make a phone call and in the space of around 3 minutes I have the problem solved...

We are having audio drop outs and crashes/lockups since the update as well. Our Tivo was rock solid until the changes.

Take it from me. You simply can't have enough wire installed before the drywall goes up. Once everything is finished, its a real pain in the butt to add more later. You don't have to terminate everything up front but at least pull plenty of wire. I'd add at least one phone line, one Cat...
