YoutubeTV 2025 price increase

Fire, Android, and of course Linux distro's, all run on the Linux kernel.
I didn't say they weren't; I only said Amazon is moving away from Android. The ramifications for app developers is unknown at this time, given that they've started with Echo devices (which don't have an app store). It could be several years before it trickles down to Fire TV or it could be next year - nobody knows.

For those who complained about the YTTV increase, $10, since the last increase was in 2023, that is $5 a year, now look at this-

In January 2024, DirecTV announced price hikes averaging around $10 per month for most of its packages. Once again it announced price hikes in October of 2024. This marked the second increase in less than a year.

Comcast’s Xfinity, one of the largest cable providers in the US, also joined the price hike party. This month, Xfinity will raise prices on various packages and add or increase several fees. Customers have reported increases ranging from a $10 to over $15 per month.

Charter Communications’ Spectrum, another cable giant, has similarly raised its prices twice over the last year. With a price hike in January of 2024 and one in July of 2024.

Spectrum has also increased fees for equipment rentals, broadcast TV surcharges, and regional sports network fees.

Cox Communications, a significant player in the cable industry, particularly in the Southwest and Midwest, has also raised prices in recent months. Customers have seen increases in their monthly bills, with some reporting jumps of over $15.

Dish Network, another major satellite player, implemented its own price increases in August of 2024. New and existing subscribers saw their monthly bills climb by an average of $5 to $10.

Just a small correction...the last price increase in January for DIRECTV was in January 2023. Next price hike was November 2023 and the next price hike was October 2024.

So 3 in the last two years, compared to the one that YTTV had.

Yep, YouTube is definitely becoming like a Traditional Provider.

And YTTV doesn't carry the A&E/History networks
A&E, History, FYI, Lifetime, Lifetime Movies, Military History and a couple others so to see those you need something like Frndly which adds 9.99 monthly (to get them in HD and record) or 7.99 monthly if you pay a year up front.

It’s just that you seem to take such glee in cableco and satco troubles.

No, all of paid Live TV, you may enjoy paying a $150 a month for a bunch of rerun channels and content you never watch, I refuse to do that and have chosen to fight back, the one way I can.

Cable and Satellite TV have been *********** us for years, pilling on more and more worthless channels, that help get the bills well pass affordability for many, even Dish Network.

For example, when they dropped the RSNs and the high per sub fee that went along with it, did the bill go down, how about the price increase that followed a few months later.

I think obsession is the correct term.
And another personal attack.

Do you go into DirecTV/Dish areas on this site and attack fans of those services….no, but this is about the fifth time of you going at me, why even bother posting the above?

Here are the last times you have done so-

I think this goofy obsession is getting the better of you.

Why is this nonsense so personal? You seem to be trying to start disagreements.
Do not know why I have drawn your ire.

So, YTTV *is* part of "paid Live TV" then?

Therefore it must be a "traditional provider," the only difference being a lag in price increases.

I would say they are a traditional provider, and customers are going to get the same price increases because they are paying carriage fees just like the cable and satellite companies. They just don't have the added expense of providing the customer hardware and installation, stringing thousands of miles of cable up all over town, managing a fleet of satellites and a couple uplink centers.
