We subscribe to the superstation package and live in Milwaukee. Recently I noticed that channel 38 WSBK (usually on ch 236) appeared in our local channel list, right above WMVT. Any explanation for this??

The superstation channels also come in on their 8000 series mirrors. This is normal.

I know about the 8000 series mirrors. I have attached a picture that explains what I'm talking about. WSBK is the only channel that is doing this.

That seems be common to those with the superstations (I see that as well) - I wonder if it is tied to the same logic that has made HSN a "local"

It appears to be happening in other areas too. You are not alone.

I am interested to know, how many superstation subscribers see WSBK on channel 38?

I do not subscribe to WSBK, but another poster reported seeing WSBK (not WBQC) on 38 in the Cincinnati area.

It got mapped down here in Wichita Falls TX too, I wonder if it is a mistake and went national instead of local.

Well, that would be in

Santa Barbara (KPMR 38 - Univision)
Hartford (WHCT 38 - Azteca) ---HEY SCOOOOOTTTT! Check this out for us!
Columbia, MO (KQFX 38 - Fox)
El Paso (KSCE - Rel)
New Orleans (WNOL 38 - CW)
Terre Haute (WFXW 38 - Fox)
San Angelo (KTXE 38 - ABC)
Detroit (WADL 38 - Ind)
Kansas City, MO (KMCI 38 - Ind)
Tampa, FL (WTTA 38 - MyTV)
Twin Falls (KTFT 38 - NBC)
Miami (WPMF 38 - Azteca)
Tucson (KUVE 38 - Univision)
Scranton (WSWB 38 -CW)
Palm Springs (KPSP 38 - CBS)
Green Bay (WPNE 38 - PBS)
Little Rock (KASN 38 - CW)

The superstation channels also come in on their 8000 series mirrors. This is normal.

They are mapped in the 8000s and again witha three digit number in the 240s. Putting them at their on dail position in other markets is something new.

They mapped it down here in Austin, TX as well (in the last 24 hours from what I remember).

I do have the SuperStations package.

As I said in the other thread, I wonder what WSBK is paying echostar for this service.

LER

I wonder what will happen if someone already has a channel 38?
I'm curious too. If it causes problems (Scott have you checked yet? ;)), and mapdown is in fact what they intended to do, then they could mapdown WSBK to channel 37 (just off by one) since there is no channel 37 anywhere in the U.S.

My guess is that currently Scott will see two channel 38s, one above the other, in the guide.

Our local Channel 38 (WPXR, ION in Roanoke Virginia) appears to have been replaced with the Boston Superstation. No loss to me personally, but I'm sure other SW. Virginia Dish Subscribers might be upset.

Remote code for AKAI HDTV???

Is this really so complicated?
