Working on the server

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

Other than the backup not working last night everything else looks great.

Hope you guys are seeing the same thing.

I am probably going to go check in to this hospital as I am in a lot of pain. I have a feeling this one may be too big if to pass on its own.

Let them take care of you ...

While I could move, it would be a lot of work, as a lot of DNS to change and updates to email records for SPF etc...
Unrelated to your current issue, DNS can be just two pointer changes (the IP address and the PTR record) if you set up the servers to point to a symbolic address rather than an IP address. Some hosting services require that you request a PTR record change so that may not be instantaneous (but neither is DNS propagation).

For example:

server.net is the server
mail.server.net can then point to server.net (rather than to the IP address)
www.server.net
can point to server.net
... and so on.

DKIM, SPF and DMARC don't involve IP addresses as that would make having multiple mail servers impossible.

If I was forced to move the server it wouldn’t be to the West Coast.

If you look at the user map a majority of folks are on the East Coast.

But thankfully we will not need to make that move. This new server seems great to me. Very happy with the speed again.
