Yes, I use an Airlink 101 AP431w (AP431W). It was on sale for $15 at Frys.

I have one of these plugged into the USB port on my TiVo and the TiVo doesn't need a phone line.

It's my understanding that the USB port on the 722 is only for external storage. For networking, you have to utilize the Ethernet port. I bought a US Robotics 802.11g Wireless Gaming Adapter and Ethernet Bridge (USR5430) off of craigslist to hook mine into my wireless network and it works great.

Answer to the original question is yes, if you can extract the software, install a linux wireless driver for your chosen device, and reintroduce changed software to the receiver.
