Wii wins Japan - Confirmed

Monster Hunter 3 from Capcom has been announced exclusive for the Wii.

MH1 & MH2 sold 4.5 million copies, 95% of them in Japan and were exclusive to the PS2. MH3 was originally announced for the PS3.

"Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title," Capcom managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii said.

this says nothing about Wii winning japan, only that due to high development costs on the PS3 they are going to the Wii, which is cheaper to develop for due to graphics... to me, its Capcom stating that 4.5 million copies of a game isnt enough to warrant a next gen edition at this time, we can make more money ona Wii one.

The PSP Monster Hunter is the number 1 game for the first half of the year in Japan, bigger than any Wii, DS, or 360 release.

This is a huge deal for Nintendo, and arguably just as big loss-wise for Sony, considering I am not sure this was even announced for the Wii prior to this news... another exclusive not only lost, but not even coming out for the platform. (no research there, i could be wrong)
