I just tried to tune to a Texas A&M v Oklahoma football game on ESPN2 Alternate - it shows up in the "All Sub" guide, but when selected it tells me it's blacked out. The message says to check the regional sports channels (which I think I'm getting due to the $7/month multi-sport package). When I check the regional sports channels in the 400's, there is a butt load of redundant games, and most of them are UTEP v. Rice. I don't know how many they are on - I got tired of selecting each channel to see if it would tune in. I gave up after 11.
So,
1. First of all, why are there even blackouts to begin with? Maybe I'll stop getting so annoyed if I understand the reason (as long as it's reasonable).
2. Why (I'm in AZ) is the A&M game blacked out here, yet two other Texas-based schools playing each other are on 11+ channels? Further, why are those two teams showing up on a Fox Midwest channel and it's not blacked out and I'm not in the midwest?
3. Why are there so many redundancies?
I really wish Dish would reorganize / restructure their channels. With all the different sport channels that work and don't work at the same time, and all the package channels that show up 3 times - in the regular range, the 6000's and then again in the 9000's .... I'm sure I'm not the only average joe that has a hard time understanding all this crap. And on an unrelated note, I don't really care for how 25% of my channels are embedded infomercial channels that are sprinkled throughout the entire guide.
