Keep things civil, folks. I think the point the OP makes is a good one.
Posting here serves no purpose (maybe). Has ANYONE contacted the network to let them know about this ... or just bitched about it on a message board ?The guy has a point and deriding him serves no purpose.

Really contact one of the DIRT team members and ask the question about RURAL TV. Go to the "Dish Network Support Forum" and look on the right side for anyone in RED. There's no one there now, but there will be tomorrow. Send them a private message (start a conversation). They really listen to you and will escalate the question when they can.
You can also contact RFD TV and ask about this here

I kinda sorta remember dish carrying "familynet" as a PI (Public Interest) channel somewhere around 2002..they were forced to drop them over some kind of lawsuit..
Looking at the Echostar Knowledge Base archive, I see that FamilyNet was added to Dish Network on December 20, 2002 on channel 9414. Sky Angel had had a FN Affiliate for some time on channel 9716.I kinda sorta remember dish carrying "familynet" as a PI (Public Interest) channel somewhere around 2002..they were forced to drop them over some kind of lawsuit..
Ok all. I sent FamilyNet a PM on Facebook asking about the name and here is the answer I received.
"Rural TV" refers to the livestock auctions that take over Family Net on certain dates and times.
More importantly, I hope Mario can live with it.I hope MitchDeerfield will be able to live with that response!
