Why can't i mix and match audio video on the same transponder?

Regarding STB's

Is there a reason why i cannot add a custom channel where i pick a video and audio pid that were not meant to go together on the same transponder??

Example, i wanted to display a video on a radio channel...


Doesn't seem to work.. Is there a trick or a reason as to why this does NOT work.

Make sure you put the same pid in for the pcr as you do for the audio and it should work.
At least it used to on 103 on the beach cams.
Haven't tried it in awhile.

Yes, it is possible to mix VPIDs and APIDs on the same mux to create a custom service. A dummy SID should be assigned to the new service and often a dummy PCR needs to be assigned. It may be possible that some receivers will not allow this, but I haven't tried creating a custom service recently.

I tried two things.

103w : 12144v

vpid : 257
apid : 7527
ppid : 7527 and 9999

No luck...

EDIT : I got it, it was a video problem. It wasn't in MPEG format. I chose wrong video format. Gosh, and i thought i had tried that again, but it was probably a combination of choosing the right PCR like you suggested.. Thank you!

I always thought the PCR was 8190...at least thats what it was when I would combine audio PIDS with a picture

8190 would work if it was not assigned for a program service in the transport stream table. 8191 is defined as null in the DVB standards.
