Since getting the Hopper and Joey set up I've found that I've lost the ability to choose a tuner to record new content. On the 722k I had the ability to select whether i wanted the new content to be recorded by tv1 or tv2. It appears that i've lost that ability on the hopper and that in fact it randomly chooses which tuner will record content. Is this true and if so.. does anyone know a work around?

My example is, last night i wanted to record two shows at the exact same time. It randomly selected the 3rd tuner and 1st tuner to record the shows. I tried, unsuccessfully, to force the recording to use the second tuner but i could not find a way to make that happen. So in the end i just lost the ability to watch live tv on the first tuner while the dvr recorded on that tuner.

It doesnt matter which tuner records as there are no dedicated receivers for the tuners as there were for TV1 and TV2 on the 722k.

It just grabs whatever tuner is available, and since all the tuners are the same it dosent matter. :)

:welcome Yorgeyn!

If there is a third tuner available you can just hit the red button on the remote and pick which tuner you want to watch.

Thanks for the replies. I think I understand. So if the two of the tuners are used to record content i can just choose the third tuner to watch live tv from any of the tvs connected to the hopper/joey set up?

The receiver should automagically pick tuners to record that are not currently being used for watching live programming. If a recording begins with the receiver "off", you may need to choose a tuner in the Viewing Status page (red button).

Thinking about getting a sling on my 722
