Once again, this site is open to everyone so all polls are open to everyone. Which brings me to my second argument: There are no age restrictions on this site so all posts must be appropriate. If you wish to view "hot" women, you should find your wife or go to a porn site.

It's not only about age. The avatar seemed inappropriate for the web site. The poll was, of course, written in jest. It is obvious how the poll's author feels. My anser is: Yes. The Avatar was offensive to ME and I thoiught it had no place on a site like this. To turn off ALL avatars to satisfy the adolescent sexual fantacies of ONE member seems silly. Asking the one member to please be considerate of other's seinsibilities makes much more sense.

BTW this comment is made as a reader and not as a staff member. I did not oice my complaint nor did I have anything to do nor discussions with other staff members about this. I have been a casual observer about this until now.

I saw nothing wrong with it, as I see about the same stuff in jc penney and victoria secret catalogs that come in the mail

You must not get the ones I get then. JJ Besides a women in lingerie is seductive to me, no matter what pose she is in. And if I fold the pages right, I can get two or more women touching in lingerie.

Suggestive is only based on one's personal opinion or ideas. Your ideas and mine are TOTALLY different. What one person finds sexy another doesn't. I can find a fully dressed woman totally alone, not posing, sexy. I have even heard people make rude comments to that effect just because she had a large chest, but she was not doing anything. Should photos of her be deemed offensive? If she was my wife and was my avatar, should it be banned?


I accept the removal by the board's owner, but as a rule I can't accept any one or handful of people attempting to "bully" the censorship of content based on their personal beliefs. I have seen worse, for FREE, in my non-solicited mail, my TV, local malls, billboards, and YES in Victoria Secrets. If Scott asks it to be removed, so be it, but don't bully the masses based on your private morals, just find a way to control your PC and the display privileges so you can't see them.

Ya know what's funny to me is I didn't even take notice to his avatar until this thread started. I rememver seeing it, but could have cared less. I prefer to read the posts for info than look at avatars. That's just me though.

Honestly, I see billboards on I-94 that are much more suggestive than that avatar, and the billboards are for radio stations.

This is not directed at the board: I guess next we will be forced to remove our equipment lists in our sigs because they are made in countries some of us may not like; and sign affidavits to our race, sexual prefs and religion, if any. I love the PETA comment. We can't use animals for food and clothes, but they want us to use more synthetics. A process that harms the environment to another group. Glad there was no PETA with the cave man; WE would have become extinct!

Thank you for the clarification. My JC Penney catalog is no where near as suggestive as the Victoria's Secret catalog. I can find no photos of twosomes in suggestive positions in the JC Penney catalog. I do not have a recent copy of the other catalog since I requested the catalog I was receiving no longer be delivered to my home when my teenage girls started to get the mail. If I choose to buy something from Victoria's Secret, I just go to the mall. I don't think most men realize the negative impact these images have on young women. I have been a high school teacher for years. In addition, my teenage daughters and I have a very open, communicative relationship. I am amazed at their perspective and the things they are exposed to on a daily basis. I am also amazed at their integrity and their ability to make responsible decisions. I have raised three (soon to be four) wonderful and beautiful WOMEN, but it has not been easy when sexuality is treated so casually. I am not religious and I am not a "prude". I do believe in the basic virtues of integrity and respect for oneself and for others.

Like I said, maybe I am just desensitized to all. I myself was not offended by it, but in all honestly, it is ultimately up to scott. If he wants it gone, then it's gone.

He runs an excellent board (with arguably the most knowledgable moderators on any site I have visited) and it is very fair.

I won't fight to get the avatar back, I can go to the backroom for it or just look in my junk email if I want to see pic's like that or even any of the hundreds of free pr0n sites.

The only thing I am taking exception to is someone else telling me what is acceptable for others to see. Each can make their own decision for themself and each of us must respect that.

Since there's not an adequate poll choice - No, it wasn't appropriate for this site and shouldn't be brought back.

I often read this forum while in a work setting and wouldn't want to have to respond to my boss (or anyone else) if questioned about that avatar and what kind of site I was reading.

Me either, I went looking for it.

I didn't have to go looking for it--I know exactly which one just by reading this site in the past week.

There are other avatars I would prefer weren't used also, but at least they are static, which in a small way makes them better--though not entirely acceptable to me, they aren't enough in themselves to quit this forum.
