I was going to go with the DVR+ but still many things happening with it, that reminds me of the early days with the PalDvr and I didn't want to play tech support if something went wrong with it. Which is also why I didn't just set up WMC with an old laptop and HD homerun.
I gave in and bought a Roamio and Lifetime for my mom. It is very fast and works well, she really likes it, so I said the heck with it and bought 2 more on sale for myself and my dad to replace the PalDvr's. I bought a mini for myself and I actually use the Tivo and OTA more than my 722. I have a 211/dvr that will become my main sat receiver once some credits on my 722 expire.
30 OTA channels, I can find plenty to watch. I got really tired of Dish's half a$$ attempt at providing guide info for OTA too, so that really helped sway me too. The constant rerun marathons on all the cable channels is a big turnoff. ESPN,FS1 and a little bit on NBCSN are about all that keeps me on a basic sat sub now. I could just rent the 3-4 shows I actually watch off cable, if it wasn't for the sports.
