which receiver/dish to buy?

I have a client that has directv at his ranch. I need to setup a new plasma tv for him. what is the best receiver/dish combo can I buy that is future proof for mpeg4 stuff. he is very rich and money is no object. only wants the best over there.

There is no such thing as future proof in the world of CE, but as for MPEG4 HD you will need the AT9 dish; only dish available for current 5 satellite/MPEG 4 setup, and the DirecTV H20 receiver. If he really wants the best this isn't the right time to buy. I would wait out the next generation and see the new products that will be released next quarter/next spring '06.

well he's gonna have me buy whatever the best is right now and then have me buy whatever is best in a few months. like i said money is no object for this guy.

Then your be looking for the Directv H20 which is mpeg4 ready
and on depending on what location your client lives at ? then you might want him getting the At9 directv 5 Lnb dish also
