Which HD DVR for new subs after Feb 1?

I'm a bit confused here... I can't imagine I'm the only one.

To paraphrase what I think I've been reading here:

1) No MPEG2 HD receivers will be activated after Feb 1
2) The new MPEG4 HD DVR (622) will likely not be available (especially in volume) until some time (long?) after Feb 1.

So if I'm a new sub wanting to lease an HD DVR in the first week of February, what receiver am I going to end up with? Will there be a cache of 622s earmarked for this purpose? Will I get a soon-to-be-obsolete 942? Or will they not give me a DVR at all and instead a 411 or 211?

I ask as I am planning on becoming a new Dish subscriber in the next couple of weeks and my g/f is begging me to get a DVR... and I certainly don't want to have to pay to lease a 942 and then pay again to upgrade to a 622...

I'm in the exact same position. I am ready to sign up with Dish & HD, however these questions need to be clear before we make a 18 month commitment.

Nobody wants to sign a new contract and get hardware only to find out two weeks later they are obsolete.

I have asked my installer all these questions and he will hopefully give me some options.
