Which Dish for HR24?

Do you have Directv in your house? If so, then using the same setup, swm or non swm, is the easiest if you are going to swap the dvr in and out. If you only want to use the dvr for watching one channel without being able to record another, a non swm setup is the cheapest and easiest since you won't need the power inserter and only one cable from the dish. If you use a swm, there is still only one cable. The 3 lnb is easier for most to set up than the 5 lnb.

What set up are you using at home ?
If you run a line fro9m the Dish to your recvr in your RV, remember you don't want to use the existing cabling from the RV, theres usually a splitter or two in the line, also an OTA AMP that can't be between the recvr and the dish.

SD spotbeam Locals? They must not travel more then 200 miles away from home then LOL.

I travel about 3 Times a year for about 2-3 weeks each time with our Goose Neck.
We have a RV mounted Slimline3 with a Swim 8 Mounted in the Fuse area where the central wiring all comes together.

So for me its a Piece of cake! I bring my HR34 and H25. We don't get the local networks, but we could NY/LA if I want to pay for it ,and fill out the RV waiver request form.

I don't see the need since we never really watch TV that often on Vacation.
Best Part about the RV mount, I never have to ajust it by hand, or set up a tripod.

SD spotbeams aren't the only programming on 119. There are several music channels and ethnic specific programming.

I use an SL3 while motorhoming with my HD receiver. With an HR24 dvr I would go with a SWM3.

You seem to have one of the bigger RV rigs. You have invested in the self-align dish.......so my question is: Do you get enough use out of operating two receivers while traveling? Do you record a lot and run that in NLOS (no line of sight) stops? My thought was that even the biggest RVs are too small for two receivers to run at the same time unless users of all TVs were on headphones.

Just wondered how it worked for you?

For the few RVs I work on I tell them what you said and suggest connecting the output of the receiver to the antenna port on their RV. They then get Directv on both TVs....same output, same shows etc. Some like the idea, others insist on rigging two or more receivers. Gotta wonder how that works with more than one TV audio running inside an RV.

We have a 38 foot Jayco Eagle Premier 343, towed by our 2012 Silverado 3500 HD with of course a Duramax and a 4:10 Limited slip.
It weighs a bit too much for easy towing with a Gas, We tried it with our 2009 2500 HD with a 6.0L it hated it!
And with also 4:10 rears it was getting about 8 MPG. The Duramax about 11-15 depending. Not a vast improvent wih the price of Diesel, But Much more comfortable to drive.

I would have to Honestly say, the only benefits for me is , When I bought the my Travel Trailer, it was a Free upgrade to add it. So of course I love it.
LOS issues , none yet! But I don't vacation in the woods, I live in the Woods.
Put it this way, Live Tv isn't that important to me when traveling. So for me to spend an hour or 2 of it to set up a slimline on a tripod run all my wires all over outside I wouldn't bother with it.
We have plenty of Blu-rays.
But the fact the the RV setup is Clean ,Quick easy setups, Basicly plug and play It would be an investment worth looking into.
As far as DVR goes, Next time I'm just bringing the 2 H25s. We don't spend the days watching tv on vacation, we can do that at home!

That is where I am with TV....but I do use the music stations.I got an old suitcase I can fit an 18' dish & mast + an active SD receiver & a coil of cable with jumpers & hand tools.
Turn up the volume and play along with my trumpet. So far there have been enough TVs & 110 outlets where I have arrived.........considering taking it on an ocean cruise.

RE the truck.........my life got easier after I switched to dual battery systems and installed transmission coolers. Likewise having an auxiliary fuel feed was something I didn't think of but an employee rigged. With all the systems you have to protect all the lines. Just vibration will cut or break steel lines. Out in the boonies, having pre-cut pvc stubs with clamps to repair heater or radiator hoses will save you a day sometimes.
Sometimes having a trailer ball on the front bumper will make parking easier...or getting towed.

Is this the $1700. unit ?
Does it autotune as in find the Sats on it's own, or do you still have to point it ?

They REALLY need to come down under a thousand before they will be sold regularly ...
Then again if your buying a New Rig, whats another 2 thousand on the loan, but for those that are trying to add D* to thier current set up and would rather not deal with the set up, this looks like the one you would need for HD.

Still way too expensive.

Its fully Automatic. I don't have to get on my roof at all. It raises, lowers, tilts, and turns.
And it didn't cost me anything Extra it was a free upgrade. The Satellite Package is only $135 option anyway on this model.
But when you spend $75,000 on a Nice Camper the last thing I want to do is Store a Slimline, Tripod, Wires ,and then have to set it all up for the 1 hour of TV per night we may watch.
Money well spent!
