I have Dish Network thru AT&T for a $5/mo bundle discount. AT&T dumped Dish Network for Direct TV. AT&T wants me to dump Dish Network/Direct TV/Comcast for U-Verse according to flyers I have been getting in the mail weekly for several months now. AT&T as SBC used to own Comcast here, but sold out a few years ago right after I dumped Comcast for Dish Network as Comcast did not have any HD programming at the time. Comcast wants me back with their Xfinity program and I have been getting flyers from them too about every week. I am getting sick and tired of all the Dish fees/rates raises recently. What should I do?

so AT&T is pushing dumping E? who already jacked up the fees?

This will do wonders for E churn, bad wonders but still wonders.

We see E at the cliff of long term sub shrinkage from a variety of causes, lost bundle partners and gross stupidity.

Its bad business to discourage your top end customers. really dumb.

The trouble today EVERYONE wants BIG short term profits rather than long term stability with slower profit growth.........

I called AT&T directly today. Boy, if you think Dish Customer Service is bad you should try AT&T. After pressing a bunch of buttons on the phone I finally got a CSR after a 10 minute hold. She told me I had called billing and I need to call AT&T Dish. I told her I was wanting to see about U-Verse. She said she would transfer my call, but before she did she tried to get me to switch to AT&T LD, since she saw that I now have Sprint. The next CSR told me that U-Verse was not available in my city. I told her the U-Verse sub-station is 2 blocks from my house and I know of at least 2 homes that got U-Verse during the past couple of weeks on my block. She told me to call back on Monday during regular business hours and someone would try to help me, but I could go online and sign up for a great deal of only $49/mo for 6 months if indeed U-Verse was available. I told her the flyer I have now says I can get the top tier and 1 DVR for $29/mo for a year. She told me that is not right and that flyer is outdated. I told her I got it last week. She again told me to call back tomorrow. What a waste of 20 minutes. I am going to call AT&T Dish to see what they can offer me to stay; if nothing then I will call AT&T U-Verse. Wish me luck.

Well, for me personally, I couldn't stand U-verse TV. Couldn't stand the 2HD/2SD limit. Now they have 3HD/1SD, soon 4HD/0SD, however I hated how U-verse TV would cut into my Internet bandwidth. U-verse HD for me was also sub-par, and DISH HD is better IMHO. So now I can record 4HD without slowing down my U-verse Internet, have better HD quality, and a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better DVR than U-verse, and now I'm happy :) . I won't ever be switching from this config unless I move or something. As far as U-verse TV, I'll never give it a second thought ever again unless I hear the HD has improved and/or the TV limits are lifted. Plus I could only have one DVR for a whole house on U-verse, with only 320GB of space, couldn't stand it.

Also, for me, having DISH TV, and U-verse Internet is cheaper than having U-verse TV + U-verse Internet, for the same amount of channels.

"We see E at the cliff . . . " We? Are you speaking for the entire forum, now or, did you mean the royal "We" (that is reserved for the king of the forum)? If not, please speak for yourself by using the personal pronoun "I" when offering your opinion, just like every other commoner who shares opinions. Thanks.

Thanks for the informed feedback rather than making some inane comment. Sounds like I will sticking with Dish for a while, but I am still going to call AT&T Dish to see what they can offer me. I am spending $137.30/mo even with the $5 discount.

there are lots of posters who believe E churn will be worse this quarter.

combine end of loyalty credits for fee jacking, countries economy, added competition for E and loss of near all bundled partners.

the perfect storm for churn...........

Please please please don't quote him. Those of us who have him on ignore don't want to read his ramblings...

I called AT&T Dish and talked to a sweet girl with a heavy Indian accent named Debbie. I told her my concerns about the fees, etc. She was very sympathetic and offered me a $12/mo discount to remain with Dish for only 1 year as I was out of contract. She told me AT&T Dish does not want to say anything bad about AT&T U-Verse, but if I would compare what I am getting with Dish against U-Verse I would want to stay with Dish. I wanted to tell her what I am getting from Dish and what I would get from U-Verse is the same--screwed, but I had second thoughts. I took the $12/mo and thanked her profusely. End of story.

I recently switched from Uverse to Dish. I was pretty happy with Uverse, but for the same money, I get a more channels than Uverse and more than 1 HD stream. IMO, that's the biggest problem with Uverse. Their customers are artificially tiered into number of possible HD streams based on distance from the VRAD. AT&T can't even tell you what your bandwidth will be until they come to install the service.

And don't get me started on Uverse's picture quality. Dish is a huge improvement.

AT&T can be an absolute nightmare. Their customer service is so much fun.

Can't stand it when people speak for or appear to represent others without any basis.
"we"...Who's "we"?
