I think I am somewhere near it and I can lock on these transponders
I am in Central NY State

No idea what you've got there.
Try scanning the dish east and west using: 11959 H 29270 (87W Ku always-on news feed that's a much stronger signal than PBS.) Currently showing a very nice picture of the NYC skyline.

Look for 12045 V 3200 DVB-S2 8psk which is the Florida Channel, good strong signal to line up on.
Another good TP is 11960 H 29265 DVB-S QPSK news feeds.

OMG I was on 87W getting the other channels and LPS was going in and out, three of them. Can't get it again.
Can't find the sat since I moved off of it.
Now I am on one giving me
ABC News one live channels 1 & 3 12012 13333
Any idea what this is? Thanks

Found my Titanium KU LNB so I hope to try that on Monday.
I was using a universal BUT when the V8 turned on the 22 kHz signal the Channel master 1004ifd signal finder tone does not change when moving the dish. I use both in series.

LPB on 87 using my motorized 90cm dish works ok but not a lot of headroom for signal loss (rain, dense clouds etc). A 30" (75cm?) would be tricky, as it would also be for 125W PBS. If you can find a 90-100cm dish, would help significantly.

I get lpb at a great signal but for some reason have trouble picking up the new york lotto feed and a weak signal on the patient channel.

Did you try optimizing the LNBF on the Patient Channel? Optimizing the reflector and feed on a single transponder may not be optimized fro another transponder that may be weaker or have interference from either an adjacent satellite or a terrestrial source.

Very SLOWLY, slide the LNBF towards and away from the reflector. Stop and move away from the reflector with each small movement and check for Signal Quality increase. Do the same when SLOWLY adjusting the LNBF skew clockwise and / or counterclockwise.

You might also try gently and SLOWLY pulling on either side and top or bottom of the reflector with the bracket tightened onto the mast. Observe for any change in the Signal Quality reading.
