Hey Guys I am thinking of switching from Dish to DirecTV the main reason is lack of local HD channels on DISH. I know the Dish 722 I have can have 95 timers what is the limit on the new DirecTV HR34?

:welcome to Satelliteguys!

Someone that has one can tell you for certain, but I read that they planned on having 100 at some point. I think they had 50 when they came out.

:welcome to SatelliteGuys and great site with people willing to help you :) Best site going today :)

Thanks for the Welcome it is great to be here!

Many people have commented on the necessity of 50 much less 100 timers! We cannot watch that many shows at once but considering the seasonal nature of television it is much easier to set a timer and forget about it as opposed to having to keep track of the timers according to seasons. I dont want to have to deal with the manual labor involved in keeping track of shows and seasons much less the week on the couch I would spend if I miss my wife's "So You Think You Can Dance" (LOL!)

the series limit is 50 right now
The event limit I have no clue but have had over 100 events set to record with no issue
(we recently got AntennaTV subchannel and they have a few shows I like so having 5 or 6 series that record 2 shows 5 days a week (sometimes 7 days) those can add up there pretty quick :) )

Series link limit on the HR34 is 100 (the regular HD DVRs it is 50)

yes its a 100! Dtv needs to raise it to 125-150. I constantly have to delete to make room for new ones. Not that there is a 100 recording but shows that are on there from last season that are off right now and dont want to miss when they come back on. Plus with 3 people recording in the house on the same box its only 33 shows per person.

same here. i could use at least 150, maybe even more.

wow, 100 that's cool i thought its was 50 no matter what receiver, but its good to know 100! but isn't the series manager just software if they want to up it again?

is this true 100 for HR34?

Yes. I have hit the limit before. We record a lot of stuff. That's the fun of 5 tuners. We don't watch everything but we don't watch live tv either. So we always have stuff to watch. Some of the series timers are seasonal shows and I just leave them for whenever the new episodes come back.

I have a HR24 as well so I guess you can say I have 7 tuners for recording and 150 series slots :)

Yes. I think it should be unlimited. There's tons of room on the hard drive to store a little list of shows.

One thing to note that's different than dish. One time events, like movies or sports, don't count towards the limit, just series, or recurring events.
