What Happend With Out Door Life Channel

does anybody know the real story behind what happened between dishnetwork and the outdoor life channel,i know this channel is owned and operated by comcast and from what i have heard comcast is very hard to get along with,comcast has lost many thousands of customers to dishnetwork so i think this is one way they are getting back at dish.
directv may be next to loose outdoor life channel.

Comcast wanted more $$$ for the NHL games in the middle of a contract.

Dish didn't pay so Comcast blacked out the NHL games.

Dish said Comcast violated and voided the contract so Dish removed OLN.

if they violated their contract i am sure dishnetwork will be taking them to court,you can't jack up the rates in the middle of a contract.

You mean, Outdoor Life Network or OLN. There's another channel called The Outdoor Channel and that's still being shown without problems. For more info. on OLN, do a search and you'll see PLENTY of articles.

I didn't think that Comcast raised their rates. They just made a requirement that in order for a satellite/cable provider to show NHL games on their system, OLN had to be in a certain percentage of homes. Since it is part of one of the higher tier packages for Dish Network that would have meant adding it to a lower tier and charging people who possibly did not want OLN for the change. Dish Network refused to do this. I see this as a disservice to the higher tier subscribers who already paid to have OLN and have not seen any decrease in rates since it was dropped. I don't really blame Dish Network for the fiasco though, I blame the NHL who should have put more pressure on Comcast to make the games available to as many people as possible considering they are coming back from a season lost to labor disputes.

Yes you can if it hidden in the legal contract, just ask ESPN, they can rise the rates at any time, and has to be in the basis service.

This is exactly what happened!

Bottom line, Comcast loses revenue from Dish, Dish subs (AT 180) lose NHL broadcasts (with no cost decrease for their package), NHL loses much needed national exposure and Charlie is laughing all the way to the bank!

Leave it to Charlie to take a stand on the pretense of protecting Dish subscribers from rate increases and then pocketing all the savings from discontinuing OLN.

Also, Comcast didn't drop the service, they just put the old cheap programs in place of the NHL content they paid all that money for. That was supposed to force E* to cave and renegotiate the deal. E* chose not to "acquiesce to their request".

Yes, and we will soon be paying more for them. However, somehow I doubt we will get a reduction for the loss of OLN...

Dish has been to court many times over the rights to CSN in the Philadelphia market
comcast will not allow Dish Or DTV to show any local sports in the area. Living
in Philadelphia and having something other that cable means you will not watch any
local sports other than Eagles Football. Philadelphia and comcast Suck. comcast is
probally paying off the city to keep it this way and the law makers will not step in.

It seems Comcast has been busy buying up FOX regionals in markets where they are the dominant cable carrier...they then make their signal unavailable to satellite custs.....Chicago and the DC market are now Comcast sports net branded channels..So if you live in Balt/DC or Chi and you have DN or DTV you aren't getting alot of games.....This is dirty pool if you ask me....Cable absolutely sucks. This kind of underhanded elimination of choices is really ass backwards......
