I want to get channels on either G3 or PAS9. Which one can I get better quality and what set up do I need?
I am at Grove City, OH 43123. I have a Pansat 2500 receiver and a 18'' Directv dish with California Amplifier 150517 LNBF.
From reading the old posts, it seems I need to get a 30'' dish and a new Ku band LNBF to get the free to air channels or do I still have a shot with what I already have? Can any one recomand what should I get if I do need upgrade some of the setup?
Thanks

Welcome to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum.

Yes you will need at least a 30 " dish and a KU LNBF, for Pas 9 you would need a Universal KU LNBF. Like the SNF-031 from Invacom

www.Invacom.net

The 18" dish and the DBS LNB will pull in a few FTA channels and radio.

What have you been using the system for up until now?

The dish is there when I got the house. The Pansat is brand new I got for Christmas a year ago. Since I was overseas last year, I never had chance set it up until now.
Between the Galaxy3 and PAS9, which one do I have better chance get good quality reception? Is bigger dish gets better reception?
Thanks

The bigger dish offers higher gain, allows more reception of what signal is there. I would say go with Galaxy 3 since it is @ 95.0w and PAS9 is @ 58.0w and also requires the universal LNBF. You can click on each satellite name and pull up some transponder listings. I would also recommend buying the largest dish you can afford and feel comfortable installing.

Thanks for all the answers.
I checked Sadoun's web site, is Fortec Star 80cm dish with motor a good choice for me? As far as LNBF, they have Invocom Linear Universal LNBF SNH-031, will this cover both the Galaxy 3 and PAS9? Sadoun also have a Invocom Circular/ Linear Universal Quad LNBF QPH-031, would I need this? Also, is Pansat 2500 OK, or do I need a new receiver?
Thanks

The QPH-031 is NOT a universal LNBF, the SNH-031 is, and will work for Pas 9 and G3C (As long as you have a line of sight to them of course)

80cm dish and Universal LNBF sounds good, if you can get as big a dish as you can afford!
